No, Google, you do not need access to every photo on my device. It is absolutely ridiculous that Google Photos will not operate with limited access to my device photos.

That’s veiw gave 1 star!
Although you are helping every individual save moments in time by our giving these photos and videos for us at the same time. It’s not that helpful. And I will explain why. There should be an option where you download Google photos. And you’re able to access your photos and videos without allowing access to the physical device. You’re using the reason being is so the current information on the current device you’re using. Doesn’t take up all the space on your Google photos. Now, of course, one could do this accessing Google photos via a browser, but we both know how unproductive that is, so you force the user to access the application via the app, which is just frustrating. iCloud services. Give you 5 GB of data when you first get an iPhone which is absolutely unacceptable. I applaud you guys for giving the free cloud space you do for your Angel users. But in this case you fell. This is unacceptable. Change this. (taken to consideration how hard it is to sign in through a browser. Also, for all the approval. Signing requests. You have to approve and not including if you have a VPN, which is even harder to do…) Yall know exactly what you’re doing. PONTE EN LA BOLA 😾
Google Photos requires access to all photos on your device to work. While some people might be ok with that, I’m definitely not; I use Google Photos for work related things, I don’t want to deal with my thousands of personal photos when doing work things, and that’s not even mentioning the inherent privacy concerns with giving blatant access to all photos.
All my photo albums have disappeared, the photo album section glitched then became inaccessible, and now when i click the add option on a photo to add to an album, the album bar is blank white with no new way to creat a new album either,
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 love it
Wow this last update is terrible. I search for the exact filename, as per the photo I downloaded from the google photos site which I now want to delete from my phone, and the photo does not appear in the search results? I have always been able to clean out photos this way. I get tons of results for most recent or best match, but the actual photo is not in either set of results at all. What a waste of time. Leaving as two stars because it does still back up photos.
Most definitely not the same app as it was back in 2010. A place you can trust your information will be backed up to for safe keeping.
I have spent so much time trying to figure this gosh dang app out that the time I spent writing this review is but a fraction of the hours wasted trying to navigate this egregious dumpster fire of a user interface. Calling this an app is a disgrace to applications.
Doesn’t allow me to rename shared albums without pushing me down the album into my photos. It parallax scrolls back to the top leaving me unable to edit or make albums - wasn’t like this before. Double saves screenshots from iPhone and iPad thinking it’s two separate photos when it’s the same one. I think Google developers really need to overcome the barrier of this operating on iOS devices. Not sure if there’s a challenge with the iOS environment but it was definitely smoother on the pixel phones I had in the past. Apps should run smoothly regardless of OS. Update 3/1/25: now it’s completely disabled asking for “access to full photos” but there’s no such setting in the google photos app for this. Rendering app useless.
