iFeltThat Earthquake

Did you just experience an earthquake? Find out how close and how big it was with iFeltThat, the most customizable worldwide earthquake app for the iPhone and iPod touch.
iFeltThat retrieves information directly from official USGS sources to show you seven days of microquake activity as low as magnitude 1.0 in most U.S. regions. Earthquake lists for U.S. regions show you precisely where an event occurred (not just "Northern California," but "5 mi SE of Santa Rosa, CA"). Rotate any list view to see the region-wide map. You can also see at a glance how many citizens reported the event to the USGS "Did You Feel It?" service
In addition to 20 region-specific event listings around the world (visit support page for a complete list), iFeltThat features a Nearby region, which uses your current location as a center point. Add an unlimited number of center points from your Address Book to keep an eye on seismic activity near your family and friends (or your own hometown while you travel) down to magnitude 1.0 in the U.S. (4.5 elsewhere). Or set a center point from any event location around the world to monitor earthquake swarms within 500 miles of the center point.
View single-event and interactive region-wide maps in roadmap or satellite hybrid styles. All maps are pinch-zoomable and draggable, just like the Maps app. Optional one-touch zoom buttons in detail maps let you zoom in and out quickly for one-handed operation while on the go. Tap the Newer and Older buttons to navigate instantly from quake detail to quake detail without having to go back to the list.
Whenever a ••USGS Shake Map•• is available for an event, a special icon appears in that event's detail view. Tap the icon to see the Shake Map within iFeltThat. In fact, all related web pages (including direct access to North American and Pacific/Indian Ocean ••Tsunami Warnings••) appear inside the app. Also from inside the app, send an email with info, links, and a screenshot of an event detail screen/map to anyone you like.
Customize which four regions are ready to view at a single tap on the bottom bar. For each region list, set the minimum magnitude threshold and default map zoom level.
One earthquake may have brought you to iFeltThat. You'll be so intrigued monitoring unexpected earth movements near you and around the world that you may find yourself using IFeltThat more often than you check the weather or news.

Slow to update

By far the slowest app to update with earthquake information.

DECEMBER 2022 UPDATE: As of today, 1 December 2022, the app is no longer displaying any of the Shake Maps. Got a message saying something about the webpage partially being in an unreadable format. Please fix. REVISED UPDATE OCTOBER 2020: App has been fixed and is now apparently functioning normally. Thank you, developer! UPDATE OCTOBER 2020: App no longer works. When clicked on, it opens for a second and then immediately closes. Just started doing this today on October 19th, 2020. I use this app every day. Looks like the app hasn’t been updated in five years, so time is catching up. Please update it and make it useable again. UPDATE: February 1st, 2017: The app now crashes constantly when I try to open it on my iPhone 6s Plus. I turned off my phone and turned it back on, and the problem still persists. Not sure what's going on. I do know there was an iOS update a couple of days ago, so there must be a conflict. Can no longer use the app due to this constant crashing. Not Recommended at this point in time. UPDATE: The developer has fixed the app and republished it in the App Store as of June 20th, 2015. So glad to have it back! It is working fine now, and the USGS feeds have been restored. One thing that I wish the app would do is send a push notification whenever there is a quake in or near an area specified by the user. Other quake apps have that feature, and it seems like a basic feature any app should have. Really appreciate the developer fixing the app and making it as good as new again. However, I suggest that the developer send out some kind of notification to people who already own the app that he will be removing it from the app store for maintenance the next time the app breaks. When the app quit working and then simply vanished from the App Store a day or two later, it looked like the developer pulled the plug on the app and was no longer going to support it or offer it for purchase in the App Store. It seemed as if the app and the developer simply vanished into the night. *************** As of a few days ago around June 1, 2015, this app no longer receives any feeds from the USGS. When the app is open, the screen is just blank. The developer left a note in the app saying that he was looking into it, but that was a couple days ago. Looks like he hasn't updated the app since 2013 anyway, so it looks like the app has run its course and is now dead. Do not purchase. Extremely not recommended.

Please update that the app it is out of date and it is starting to crash. One star for now. This app is very useful here in Alaska. Also change from kilometers to miles please on the main screen view or have the choice to change it. I have it set to miles in the settings and it still shows kilometers. PLEASE UPDATE!! It’s been 5 years now come on!!!

Awesome app but needs updates.

Nice User Interface

Update: 5/19/20 - This app hasn’t been actively developed for about four years, but it is STILL the best earthquake app out there. Of all the earthquake apps, this one (to me) has the nicest user interface. I like the built-in maps from Google, and I like the regions.

No bumblin’ on the rumblin’

The coolest and most accurate iTool to see what’s shakin’. What with the frickin’ fracking all over our continent and general unrest under the surface of our planet’s crust, this app may even be useful in determining where you’d want to hang yer hat—without having yer hat hit the floor.

Love this app

Simple, to the point and quick to update. As soon as you feel an earthquake you can heck the app and see where it is in relation to you. Thank you :-)
