In fairness, I’ve only recently gotten this app because my actual HP-48SX developed a keyboard issue that may sadly be impractical to repair.  So I’ve just begun to explore the features.  However, so far, it seems excellently done.  It’s so nice to have all the power of this iconic and amazing calculator available on demand on my phone.  I don’t know if it’s also programmable like the hardware device - that would be challenging to achieve - but it’s awesome to work with integrals, summations, equation solver, matrices, etc., just like the actual calculator.  Superbly recommended!  Thank you.

I loved this app on iOS 17. I don’t know what happened but ever since iOS 18 came out this app is really slow. I have to type my digits very carefully. The app misses so many clicks that I have taken to double checking my calculations on another device, which defeats the purpose!

Had an older HP 48 emulator on my iPhone 6, but when it finally became pretty much obsolescent couple years back and I upgraded to the iPhone 14, had to find a new HP 48 emulator for it.

This one has proved to be the best of the ones I’ve tried, and I use it all the time.  Very easy to view and operate, plus fairly dependable as well.  It will crash occasionally during startup, but once you relaunch always seems to work fine — not particularly inconvenient, in any case.

I did have to delete and reload it once, when trying out various different skins — completely froze up, and couldn’t get it to run at all anymore.  So recommend finding one skin you like, and then just sticking with it…

### ***** "Fantastic HP48gx emulator"
I actually own and still use a real HP48gx, arguably one of the best hand held calculators ever made. This emulator is very faithful to the real thing. I actually downloaded and imported all of my programs from my real HP48gx to this emulator without problems. The emulator does have a few bugs. It crashes on occasion with an invalid address exception and it doesn’t retain its state after shutdown and restart. Both are minor issues.

Update: I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it now saves its state across shutdown and startup again. I also reimported all of my programs and libraries from my real HP48GX.

Love it… except I consistently get the following message: 

“Don’t Panic” 

Which prevents me from using the calculator. I thought it would never catch me when. I needed it. Welp, that day arrived today. I needed batteries for my real HP48GX and thought, “your phone will work.”

Will be reuploading the normal calculator app that came with the phone.

Mine just crashed on4/12/24. Couldn’t get it to work so just deleted the app, came back to the App Store and downloaded it again. The color for the keys, screen and background changed and no longer look like the original calculator. Anybody else see this? Can it be fixed? BTW, love it and been using it for years.

When it works, it works great just like regular HP48. Unfortunately, apps crashes/freezes continually, which is only resolved by deleting and redownloading.  It’s to the point where I will use almost any other calc-app.  I keep circling back, but problems always resurface.
