I paid for the premium membership. It is quite good but a little slow. It also does not not include full AI features as I thought it would so you don’t get very much feedback from the AI tutor lessons. You need to pay the same again for the ‘AI premium’ membership to get this feedback and more AI features! Very expensive!
This app takes a decent approach to language learning. I’m trialling it with German for an upcoming trip in March so we’ll see if it can do better than Duolingo as it claims. However there’s a couple of niggles. Despite the claim of no gamification there’s plenty of it. Also there seemed to be no way to try it without a plan which meant parting with £50 for 3 months only to find the app is laggy as hell. At times it’s painfully slow to respond causing phrases to be repeated and then be marked as incorrect. I’ve never had this on Duolingo. If I’d experienced this slowness I’m not sure I’d have paid for a plan. I’ve only used the app on strong 5G or high speed internet so it’s definitely not a connection issue at the network level, the app is just plain slow, sadly. As the title says could be great…

Signed up and paid but found it far too tricky. Would be better if you’re more familiar with the language. But there was no hassle at all in getting my refund which I appreciated.
Unfortunately there are regular minor errors in either the Italian or the translation - but overall a great app for practicing speaking.
The concept is good but it isn’t accurate at all, with what the mic picks up to the pronunciation score. The ai tutor doesn’t work at all either. It’s fun to do the conversations and practice speaking but a lot of it is too fast to even grasp what they said, and then you just read out an answer that you also don’t understand. The writing and listening exercises are so boring and disengaging, might aswell not be on there. Alongside no spaced repetition i don’t think i’d actually learn anything but it is enjoyable to practice speaking out loud.
A great app which gets you speaking straight away. Going really well.
I wanted to cancel at the end of the free trial and deleted my account. I was charged, and cannot access the app. I’ve emailed twice to sort out. No response. No place you can call. They have my money and are not enabling access. I appreciate it was my fault initially but customer service is literally none existent if you have a problem.
STAY AWAY. I don’t know how I got subscribed but I got charged £45 and then a year later was charged £45 again. I don’t even have the app on my phone. After writing immediately to them after I noticed the second charge (I hadn’t noticed it the first year) they refused to give me a refund even though I asked them the same day as the charge. STAY AWAY.
Jumpspeak advertises that it will improve your conversation skills. As a lapsed Spanish speaker I’ve achieved a good CEFR B1 standard but need to improve my speaking skills. After a month I can say it does not achieve this claim. The speech recognition and AI are poor In comparison to other apps I use. The lessons are parochial and don’t challenge the user. And it markets discount/offers very heavily which in my experience have T&C attached to them which are not transparent when you subscribe = I was not refunded in full. Very shabby! In my experience it’s buyer beware! There are much better alternatives available so do your research…..
