It feels so good to be speaking Spanish again! I can’t wait to practice what I’ve learnt on my upcoming trip 🤩
Downloaded the app and haven’t even used it. Charged me £60+ without even realising and there’s no way to cancel, refund or otherwise. Can’t even see where to stop this coming out again, there are just no settings.
I have been trying to learn Italian for 3 months now but found other apps too random The app uses real conversational language that challenges you but is also totally achievable. It connects the dots between the written and spoken, improves your pronunciation… Great stuff! Exactly what I was looking for
It’s definitely easy with Jumpspeak. It literally does make you speak regardless of your ability. Very impressed so far…!
Good idea for an app but the execution is terrible. Relies too much on AI which can’t handle the task. I used it a couple of times for Greek - one time the conversation went round in circles like thank you, you’re welcome, I’m glad you feel welcome, thank you for your wishes etc Another time I was trying to talk about food and it just started spitting out complete gibberish like this: _Appetizers any_coly subsets door Lübelief verb M_asphys coord_iFinding basa_validly e... Then the AI apologised that its last message was erroneous and nonsensical! Unusably bad.
I supposedly took out a hundred day trial where I could get a refund if I was unhappy. It was total rubbish and I constantly get messages to take out a subscription even though I have done that. I cancelled but I am not holding out much hope of receiving a refund, it is impossible to contact anyone but a chat bot.
Do not purchase this, as a UX professional and multilingual adult, this app is offensive on a number of levels. They don’t make the subscription clear, especially if you purchase through the AppStore (don’t know about Google play) so I ended up paying £60 when I thought I was signing up for 100 days free, as advertised on Instagram. Turns out you can only do this if you sign up through the website - this is misleading and terrible user experience not to mention just downright scammy. Then there is the app itself. The lessons just prompt you to repeat what they say and the ai conversation is utterly ridiculous (ordering food in a Japanese restaurant devolved into the prompts telling me to ask my server on a date!) Do not fall for this. Absolutely terrible, and I have raised a refund request through Apple as Jumpspeak offers absolutely no recourse for this.
The app crashes every time I try to make an account
Jumpspeak goes some way toward making me think fast and respond. I feel that I am gradually accumulating key phrases and bits of grammar that will help me to speak when in Spain.
App seems to have a lot of bugs… it keeps asking you to subscribe when you have already; you can’t repeat lessons without resetting and it asking you to subscribe (when you have already); the videos in between lessons regularly don’t play and it’s impossible to get older ones to replay; some of the translations have changed language - I’m learning French and it’s thrown in some Spanish; the AI can be slow and it won’t recognise phrases that are being pronounced correctly. All in all it’s quite a frustrating experience.
