Kardia is an invaluable tool to have. It can either reassure you that everything in normal or alert you if your readings are outside the normal range. It gives your doctor a clinical objective account of what was going on with your heart and not your own subjective experience!

Doesn’t allow writing ecg’s to Apple Health.

Doesn’t allow export of pdf’s without an internet connection.

It’s my data, why won’t you let me export it?

Interference is a persistent problem when trying to record an ecg.

The recorded heart rate is consistently 10bpm faster than the other devices that I use.

As good as the device may be it can only ever be as good as the app that supports it, and in this case the app would appear inaccurate, flaky and clearly focused on driving more revenue for the company.

Settle down for a few minutes before using.
Switch on .Put the index and middle finger of both hands on the left and right grids . Keep them there while looking out the window for one minute plus.
Then you will have a good reading.

I have been using this app for several years and find it excellent. It’s good to know that if something happens my cardiologist gets to see it almost immediately.
The one problem is that the symptom checklists appear in random European languages. I can understand the symptoms in Spanish and use the checklist, but I have no idea what the German means. There seems to be no way to set a language preference in this app.

I have had many issues with this app so have been unable to record a palpitation when it happened which defeated the purpose of me buying it in first place. I seem to have a good signal with the Kardia but the count down does not start and this is after changing batteries and restarting the app over and over again! It is an expensive piece of equipment and FDA approved. I do have high expectations. Update: 13Nov18: upgraded to a new iPhone8 I can consistently see lower heart rate in comparison to my old iPhone SE. I believe it's the glass back on the iPhone. This was not well thought through. I have data to prove that Kardia readings are on average 10 bpm lower on iPhone 8 vs iPhone SE.

### *---- "Terrible and dishonest customer support.  Wrongly blames GDPR for their poor UI choices."
The app recently requires that you put a password on your pdf export of your data, before emailing it to yourself or your doctor.  

The ECG data is my own. I want to email it to myself, but before I’m allowed to it is annoyingly forcing me to assign a password.  This impacts my medical viewing software from reading it, I have to them remove the password on a PC.

I sent a letter to customer support asking they make this optional.  

The first reply told me there was a “skip” option.  I replied back with a screenshot showing there was none.  

I was then told this was an intentional feature and the “new GDPR security requirements have made this mandatory for us to do so”

I am very familiar with the GDPR and that explanation is pure nonsense.  The data is on my phone and is my data.  I am not lawfully required to password protect my own data.   Data housed on their servers must already be encrypted and secure, to prevent breach, but none of that had anything to do with me putting a password on a PDF that I am emailing from my mobile. 

It’s purely obnoxious and an abuse, in my view, for customer service to simply use the GDPR as an excuse for not making a potential annoyance optional. If they didn’t want to make the adjustment, so be it, but to blame the law is dishonest. 

That level of dishonesty/ignorance is concerning, as it raises the question is there anything else?

Edit 1 September 2018:
You’ll note that the developer replies to this review that it’s unusual asking me to reach out - I then receive this message from Apple store:

“I believe GDPR requirements have been explained to the user. I do not think we should try to teach the guidances further. Closing ticket”

As explained above, those are not GDPR requirements and it is wholly dishonest to say that I am required by GDPR to password protect my own data.  This is my ECG not someone else’s.  The GDPR governs how they use my data and where it can be stored.  But see, the password obligation only occurs when I want to export and save the PDF; so it is bizarre and ridiculous. 

There is nowhere in the legislation requiring this. I resent the arrogance that I need to be “taught” the law by people who clearly do not understand it.  Notice the difference in the private email I received and their public response?

It works great. It's probably a limitation of the hardware that you can't really record a measurement while on the move. Not a criticism but it would be great. Only thing I would change about the app is the launch/home screen. It should really just be a large 'Record your ECG' button with a duration option (30sec, 1,2min etc). It's lost in a whole list of other things e.g. Apple Watch, Medicine reminder etc which all could be in the top sub menu. Just makes it slightly awkward and slow to take a quick ECG which at times is really important to catch an irregularity really quickly.
