Grade Log Movies with LUTs

Beschreibung

Make great video easy! Kino lets you just press record and create cinematic video with color presets created by expert filmmakers—no edit required. Plus, with “AutoMotion,” the app automatically creates that smooth "film look" you see at the movies. Shoot great video with no film school required.
Are you an experienced filmmaker? Kino includes all the features you need to shoot like a Pro, such as a full manual mode, focus peaking, color waveform, audio meters, and more. If you’re experienced in color, you can import LUTs quickly and use the same powerful Instant Grade feature to output video with baked in LUTs.
Regardless of your skill level, Kino adapts to your needs. Pick your experience level when setting up the app to dial things in your way or go with recommended, simple settings. The beautiful, simple interface shows only essential things, while keeping powerful features under thumb’s reach.
INSTANT GRADE
Kino comes packed with pro color presets by experts like Stu Maschwitz, Sandwich Video, Evan Schneider, Tyler Stalman and Kevin Ong. With one tap, you can shoot video with cinematic, film-like color by selecting a Grade preset. With Instant Grade, you don’t have to apply it later or do any editing steps: Kino just saves the processed video for you, ready to share.
LEARN ALONG
Getting started with video? The Kino team has a free series of lessons prepared you can dive into right away to learn filmmaking with the app. Start out with our simple recommended settings and enroll in a lesson plan to get lessons emailed to you that are easy to follow and let you unlock every feature of the app to use for making better videos.
PRO TOOLS
Kino’s simple interface does not mean it lacks in powerful pro tools. Start out with automatic exposure with EV adjustment and AE and WB lock, or drop into full manual mode with shutter speed, angle and ISO adjustment. Compose a shot with the grid with built in level, check exposure with the RGB waveform, and pull focus with focus peaking. Kino can store your recordings in Files instead of Photos for better and easy shot management, and even features a screen lock to prevent inadvertent taps messing up your shot. Set custom recording settings (like 4K 60FPS Apple Log ProRes422HQ on iPhone 15 Pro) or get started with presets for flexibiltiy.
BEAUTIFUL INTERFACE
Thoughtful touches are abound in Kino: from a screen-wide telltale ring to show you are recording, to beautiful custom typography throughout with our own bespoke fonts, Kino balances beauty and simplicity with flexibility and control for users of any skill level.
AUTOMOTION
Get cinematic motion like in feature films. Introducing: AutoMotion. Kino biases exposure towards a 180° shutter speed by default. If you land in this sweet spot, and available light supports it, the ‘Auto’ label turns green — showing you are in the sweet spot for great cinematic motion. Bright day out? Pop an ND filter on your iPhone and don’t worry about adjusting manual settings: Kino will take care of prioritizing shutter angle so you can just shoot and get great results.
LUT FRIENDLY
One of the powerful aspects of Kino is being able to download new looks from your favorite creators or your own making. Author .cube LUT files in Pixelmator Pro, Davinci Resolve, or other apps (up to 33x33) and open them in Kino with a tap.
TRULY PRIVATE
None of our apps gather or collect data, or analyze your videos and photos. We believe the most important thing a camera can be is private.
CREATOR SPECIAL
Are you a creator or filmmaker and want to get started with or love using Kino? Get in touch with us to get our ‘Creator Kit’: see the Kino website for more details. When sharing your work, tag it #shotwithkino so we can feature it online.
Thanks for making it this far! Kino is made by friends — Ben Sandofsky and Sebastiaan de With, with the help of Katie-Rose Summerfield and Doug Broussard. We made this app with love and care and we hope you love it.

A new gold standard

You deserve a 5 star review merely for the onboarding experience. And the app itself only improves from there! I’ve been looking for a while now for a way to really leverage my iPhone 15 Pro camera. Been shooting raw both with the built in camera app and the Blackmagic Cam app, and grading with Resolve. And the results are amazing, but I’ve been looking for a way to better streamline the process. I am using my phone and not a full fledged camera for a reason. And now it’s just so much easier to get everything done quickly and easily on one device. It’s not as comprehensive as Blackmagic Cam and Resolve, but nor should it be. It’s the best option at the moment to create a professional pipeline on a phone while preserving the flexibility to do further color grading afterwards if you really want to. The easiest five stars I’ve ever handed out.

Just as Advertised

I’m really enjoying the cinematic touch this app gives iPhone videos. In so many ways, Apple hardware is capable of pro-level content. But the software is of course focused on everyday users, leaving a lot of potential unrealized. Apps like this one solve that problem for people who want to make pro-level stuff on a device in their pockets or who want their everyday stuff to look just right. A few feature requests: 1- Sliders on the color style options. All the LUTs look great for longer, movie-length works. But most of us are making 45-second stories and reels that need a more subtle look. 2- An iPad/Mac control and monitor app. This may be moot with iPhone mirroring now available on Mac. But it would allow us to use the front camera for talking head videos. 3- Something like Apple’s Cinematic/Portrait Mode. I know it’s distinctly not pro or cinematic, but it’s nice sometimes to blur the background a little more than the hardware allows for.

Ain’t all that

This app is amazing for travel! No frills, the built in LUTs are great, and I can just hand my phone to a family member to film without them needing to know anything about cameras! Keep up the good work and I appreciate you guys for making a great product 🍻

Not worth $10

Apple reviews gives rave reviews BUT I’m suspicious on their $10 fee as being motivation for their review. Blackmagic Cam is free and I think their interface is better. For what it’s worth . . .

Great but lacking a bit of

It’s cool in many aspects and I believe there are certain key features that would make it better such a process zero feature similar to halide, more intuitive manual control, adjustable LUT intensity, and seamless lens switching.

⚠️Before You Buy❗️

I love the simplicity and beauty of this app—it’s very well-designed. However, there are a few issues with the touch controls. The buttons aren’t sensitive enough, making it difficult to adjust settings without repeatedly tapping or swiping. Adjusting the ISO slider is particularly challenging in landscape mode, as it often will switch out of the app. Switching between lenses is also quite slow, and I wish I could still adjust focus by tapping the screen, even when manual focus is enabled. Additionally, many buttons and controls frequently fail to respond, even after restarting the app or my iPhone. I also wish there was an option to select exactly which folder in the Files app I want to save my content to. Being able to choose the bitrate for videos would be a great addition. It would also be fantastic to have the ability to set points A, B, and possibly C for manual and automatic focus modes, as well as for zoom, with customizable transitions, such as adjustable speed. Another feature I’d love to see is the ability to save at least 3-5 manual custom settings, with options to name them and add icons for easy identification. Additionally, the app should always remember the last used settings, even if they weren’t saved, or at least provide an option to enable this feature. Having the ability to adjust video stabilization would make it even more versatile. This app would be amazing if it included settings for professional-grade photography. Even though I already use another app purely for photography, ProCamera, if this app could do all of that, I would easily make it my number one camera app—even replacing my native camera app. Lastly, if it’s possible to include iPhone’s cinematic mode with the option to record at higher frame rates, like 48 or 60 fps, even on the iPhone 15 line, this app would truly be unbeatable. Thanks for reading! It still has a long way to go before I can make the switch from Blackmagic Cam app, but it truly has potential, assuming that the devs actually give us custom presets, unlike Halide cam where they never bothered to

Lacking one key feature

This is a really good camera app and I wanna be able to use it more and open it with camera control on the iPhone 16 along with being able to zoom in more then just 2x
