Kobo app really bad always not returning to page reading goes back to beginning of book

All my reading stats say zero, despite having read at least 12 books in 2024. Filtering on ‘Finished’ goes into an endless spinning wait wheel. Has this app been coded by school kids, then released without testing? I hate to say it but I’m beginning to wish I’d given in to Kindle prison.

As an experience it beat Amazon’s version hands down, except in one area. The syncing between devices is hit and miss, but the Home Screen and Reading experience are much better. Your current book is prioritised, the wishlist feature is a great idea and you can even edit the order things should appear.

Won’t let me access my books

Purchased a volume of manga and now I can’t read it because it’s suddenly no longer available? No refund, no warning.

Doesn’t remember books I’ve read, doesn’t let me purchase through the app, nightmare logging in on website and logging in/synching up account when I do try and download new books, is just pretty awful all round!

Stick with kindle

It's a really good book-reading app. I'm going to look into a Kobo book reader soon.

Fails to deliver the basics. The book position is never synchronised with the same book on my kobo e-reader. This has apparently been a problem for years. What use is it having an Amazon competitor if they don’t deliver some of the most basic functionality? Will likely return my kobo and revert to the Amazon, thwarting my attempts at conscious consumerism!
