## KPS Description
Die Grundvoraussetzung für eine adäquate Schmerztherapie ist eine zuverlässige Schmerzmessung. Die neue Schmerzskala Keywords Pain Scale App (KPS) wurde an der Klinikum Bayreuth GmbH entwickelt um bestehe Probleme mit etablierten Schmerzskalen zu verbessern. Nach einer verbalen Abfrage wird die Schmerzintensität in nur 4 sinnvolle Stufen eingeteilt: A, B, C und D eingeteilt.

Eine Vorvalidierung in den Jahren 2016/2017 hat bei 1782 Untersuchungen eine gute Übereinstimmung mit der etablierten NRS gezeigt. Der Cut off Point (Interventionsgrenze) liegt bei der KPS zwischen B und C. Eine 11-stufige Skala ist überflüssig. (Thieme intensiv, Ausgabe 02'2018)

Der Ruhe- und Belastungsschmerz sollte getrennt voneinander erfasst werden, da Patienten dazu neigen ihre Schmerzen retrospektiv wiederzugeben. Vor allem dann, wenn der Ruheschmerz höher ist, bzw. war. So ist es möglich eine genauere Differenzierung zu erreichen. Das getrennte Ergebnis liegt näher am tatsächlichen Schmerzgeschehen und kann gezielter therapiert werden.Es ist ein allgemeines Recht der Menschen von ihren Schmerzen befreit zu werden. Die KPS-App kann hier als neues Instrument additiv oder alternativ zur etablierten Schmerzmessung ein weiteres innovatives Werkzeug sein. Das Ziel ist es, unseren Patienten immer eine optimale und zuverlässige Schmerztherapie gewährleisten zu können.
