## Laminitis Description
De "Laminitis" app is ontwikkeld om paardeneigenaren een praktisch hulpmiddel te bieden om weersomstandigheden te monitoren, met als doel te waarschuwen wanneer grazen op gras een verhoogd risico vormt voor paarden die gevoelig zijn voor hoefbevangenheid.

Lokale weersomstandigheden worden gemonitord en gebruikt om de stijging en daling van niet-structurele koolhydraten (NSC’s) in C3-grassen en zetmeel in C4-grassen te voorspellen. Wanneer de verwachte niveaus van NSC’s of zetmeel stijgen, wordt dit weergegeven als een verhoogd risico.

Onder extreme weersomstandigheden kan gras onder stress komen te staan, wat het risico op hoefbevangenheid of gevoeligheid aan de hoeven bij een paard aanzienlijk kan verhogen. Wanneer een dergelijk weerspatroon zich voordoet, zal de risicometer snel stijgen naar Hoog en dit niveau behouden totdat de voorspelde NSC- en stressniveaus van het gras weer zijn gedaald.

Tegenwoordig is hoefbevangenheid een groot probleem voor paarden wereldwijd en een van de meest voorkomende oorzaken van kreupelheid. Met behulp van deze app als educatief hulpmiddel wordt gehoopt dat in de toekomst minder paarden aan deze aandoening zullen lijden.

Met de standaardversie van de Laminitis-app krijg je via een eenmalige aankoop toegang tot de kernfuncties:

• Snel en eenvoudig toegang tot realtime monitoring van het risiconiveau op jouw locatie
• Keuze om je huidige locatie (GPS) te gebruiken of via de ingebouwde zoekfunctie een andere plek te selecteren
• Toegang tot educatieve informatie in de app

Voor aanvullende weersgegevens en geavanceerde functies biedt een enkel abonnement toegang tot:

• Toegang tot NSC-voorspellingen tot 24 uur vooruit om betere begrazingsbeslissingen te ondersteunen
• Risicowaarschuwingen binnen de app
• Geavanceerde weersanalyses voor het schatten van fructaan-, zetmeel-, enkelvoudige suikers- en NSC-niveaus
• Instelbare temperatuurstatistieken (over een periode van 24 uur)
• Uurlijkse UV-waarden en bewolkingsgraad
• Daglichtinformatie: zonsopgang, middag, zonsondergang (lokale tijdzones)
• Metingen van wind, luchtvochtigheid en luchtdruk
• Globaal zoeken (omvat alle ondersteunde landen)

Deze applicatie is niet bedoeld als vervanging voor correcte dierverzorging of veterinaire adviezen. De app is enkel bedoeld als aanvullend vroegtijdig waarschuwingssysteem om te informeren wanneer gras op de door jou geselecteerde locatie waarschijnlijk ‘onder stress’ staat en dus overtollige niet-structurele koolhydraten (NSC — zoals suikers, zetmeel of fructaan) heeft opgebouwd, wat het risico op een hoefbevangenheidsepisode aanzienlijk kan verhogen als het wordt begraasd.

Deze app kan je waarschuwen wanneer het risico op graas-gerelateerde hoefbevangenheid stijgt of hoog is. Echter, individuele paarden verschillen sterk in hun tolerantie voor schommelingen in NSC-niveaus, dus wat voor het ene paard veilig is, hoeft dat niet voor een ander te zijn. Bovendien is grazen slechts één risicofactor voor hoefbevangenheid — je moet ook bewust zijn van andere oorzaken, zoals toxines, stofwisselingsproblemen en suiker- en zetmeelgehaltes in krachtvoer, die deze app niet kan meten.
