I can’t turn off notifications for featured posts that I left a comment on. so every day or so I get a notification about some literal children talking about how this orange man is the best. sort of killed it

Love the app but absolutely HATE that you currently cannot disable the AI. It automatically uses AI to analyze everything you post and creates AI generated captions that get pushed in banner notifications to all your friends with your picture attached. You have no way of seeing what it says about your picture or disable this “feature” and there’s no information on how it’s using your pictures, how it’s coming up with captions, what data is being stored, etc. super annoying and hope they create an option to disable the use of AI asap

The new caption generator that sends captions describing your picture to your friends when you post is so beyond messed up. My best friend was at her mother’s literal grave on mother’s day, and it autogenerated and sent out the caption “(Name) is about to get haunted for this”. That is entirely inappropriate and insensitive.

I love that every photo I take gets sent through some AI model without my consent to generate some quippy notification text that pops up on my friends’ screens!! And then probably gets sold or fed into other AI models forever more!! And I’m none the wiser!! What an awesome feature that everyone asked for!!

Sarcasm aside, every one of my friends was shocked by and hates this feature. It’s certainly enough to make me turn off notifications, and probably enough to make me delete the app. My friends and I made it through significant downgrade to the UI maybe a year ago, but it seems like lapse is going the way of all these social apps that start out with a good idea. For some reason it seems that they feel they have to add a new feature every month, which ends up bloating the app with half-baked and poorly executed ideas, rather than just slowly tweaking and perfecting what started out as a decent idea. It’s sad, but it’s been fairly universal in my experience with apps like this, so I can’t really blame them. It was a good run while it lasted.
