Ling - Language Lessons

I downloaded this app to learn tagalog but the sequence of words they teach is disorganized, making it harder to learn. For example, they do not teach numbers in order, they tell you random numbers like "forty" and "twelve", but do not teach them in a pattern (ex. one, two, three, four, five....). It is very confusing and I am confused how knowing random out of order numbers is going to help me learn the language. They also don't give definitions of what each word means in a sentence, they just expect you to know words and prefixes. There is also this random chat conversation with a bunch of random sentences that you have to understand and fill in the blanks, at the end of each lesson. But the conversation does not relate to the words learned in the lesson. It's overall very confusing and hard to learn, but one thing I did like was the out loud pronunciation.

i like how Tagalog is offered, most language apps don’t offer it so it pleases me have it on here :)

Reminds me of another app (; but I like this this one better. When I make a mistake I can continue learning!!

Its not intuitive, the UX design is not fun, attractive and some buttons dont work. I had to press the unsubscribe button on my phones setting 10 times before it could finally tell me that i was unsubscribed… very weird. Anyways not for me but maybe for others.

This is a good app to learn how to read or write at beginner or intermediate level. The conservational dialogue for intermediate level is very basic (ex. they teach you how to say “that is a man,” “I am a man”); definitely not appropriate for the level described. Additional they’ve used the incorrect flag to identify the language’s (Tamil) country of origin/where it is most spoken (India).

I had high hopes for this app but obviously they don’t know how to teach it bounces all over the place which makes it very frustrating and confusing to use why would I need to know ‘the family of four buys three English books’ before I learn how to count to 10? They expect you to know words they haven’t even taught you Plus the microphone keeps shutting off before I can finish the sentences Save your money find another option

I signed up to speak Croatian I finished introduction in two days and paid but it doesn’t work for the rest of the levels

Was using it to learn Tagalog, but you took away the ability to use ads to learn. So gotta use other apps now😔

I really like this app is helping me learn my Arabic better and better

I tried the free trial of the Hebrew course and looked around several lessons at various levels. The interfaces, exercises and material were a LOT of fun and the pacing of new material looked very reasonable. BUT it’s just riddled with errors! Spelling errors, pronunciation errors in the dialogues, words written in left-to-right order instead of the correct left-to-right order, etc. (Re pronunciation: I mean that they have native speakers instead of tinny AI-generated voices, which is a great feature, but what they are saying sometimes doesn’t match the text that’s displayed.) I sent five error reports just in the first few lessons. My hunch is that nearly all these problems could be resolved by a careful and thorough copy-editing of the entire course. I’d be happy to take another look after this has been done because it’s potentially a very worthwhile app!
