Live Transcribe

There are features in this app that now make it (somewhat) better than otter app for the deaf. I do have some suggestions to improve reliability. ITEM 1. Unlike Otter, it stops working (with a popup message) when it loses reception for 10 seconds (train trip, passenger car seat, etc). I don’t mind being notified there’s a stall/lag but it should be able to automatically catch up when reception comes back, without any annoying “Having Some Trouble Transcribing” popups that force me to (sometimes) get up, reach for iPad, dismiss the annoying popup (that has no option to be disabled in settings), and see it merrily continue as reception suddenly comes back on the train route! Otter does this successfully, your app does not. Can you please fix. Yes, I know it can freeze for 30 seconds, but I want it to auto-recover without human intervention (just like Otter). Perhaps show a lag-meter (“Current Tape-delay: 13 seconds behind schedule”) next to the number of Pro hours/minutes remaining. NOTE: You can use “Network Link Conditioner” app or the “ipfw” command line app, to simulate bad networks. You can also randomly enter/exit airplane mode on top of this (for complete temporary reception dropouts). Make your app as bulletproof as Otter on this where it surges-and-catches-up. ITEM 2: Even a fiber optic WiFi connection shows “POOR CONNECTION” if you turn on WiFi while in airplane mode. This appears to be a bug. ITEM 3: To improve sustainable budget (more revenues), please consider the idea increase low-quantity cost or decrease large-quantity cost. I was about to purchase the ~$100 package but realized that the ~$2 and ~$10 packages were the same cost per hour as the big package, all packages are $2/hour. You need to earn more money by incentivizing the larger packages (by raising small-package cost or decreasing large-package cost per hour). For now I’m going to spend $2, $5, and $10 at a time only.

I’m a subscriber and I use this app for short-sentence communication with a deaf relative. I’m NOT liking the recently added feature of being asked to save translations when clearing them. This slows down a conversation steam and has no purpose for simple conversation exchange. Please make this an option in settings to turn on or off. Thank you.

It’s incredibly useful for communicating with my deaf relative. Very good at transcribing my words and very legible for her to read. I’d give it 10 stars if possible!

Recommended by a Deaf friend, I shared this with my dad who’s Hard of Hearing for a large event we attended. Great result and my dad felt more included overall. I use it to transcribe content quickly and find the black background, white letters, and larger fonts fantastic for easy use.

I find this app very helpful.

The demo of this app was great, so I ponied up for the paid version. Come to find out, even with a subscription, I only get 5h every 12 days to use the demo/premium version. However, the subscription comes with a free unlimited basic version that is absolutely terrible. Talk to text for iMessenger is a million times better! So glad I only paid for a month, and not the annual subscription they try to push. It is a complete sham that they market this basic service for people with hearing disability - it could be malpractice! Definitely looking for other options, have already cancelled subscription.

My mother was overwhelmed with joy at finally being able to understand the details of everything we are saying. She was able to participate in conversations like she has not been able to do for 20 years. The fact that I can work off-line is a godsend, so it can be used at doctor’s offices, restaurants, retail settings. This app has changed her life – thank you so much to the developers!
