يحرص الإسلام أشد الحرص على التوزيع العادل للثروات في المجتمع، ومن هنا كان تشريعه المتقن لنظام الميراث، والذي بهر بدقته علماء الشرق والغرب، فهو ينظر إلى الجوانب المتعددة في حياة الأفراد، فيراعي درجة القرابة بين الوارثين، و منظومة التكاليف التشريعية الأخرى في الإسلام، وبالتالي فإن نظام الميراث الإسلامي هو ركن مهم من أركان الاقتصاد في الإسلام ؛ ومن هنا فإن علم المواريث من أشرف العلوم وأنفعها، ولذا حثنا النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم على تعلمه والتفقه فيه، حفاظا على إيصال الحقوق إلى أصحابها، تطبيقا لشرع الله، وضمانا للعدالة الاجتماعية، والتوزيع العادل للثروات.
