Meetup used to be a useful, free tool to find groups. Another good app ruined by subscription services.
Fun but annoying
Great way to connect with local interests, people & clubs. But the incessant hustling for upgrades is very annoying.
Pushing Meetup+ is a downer
I really enjoy Meetup, but what the app has done to push Meetup+ makes things inconvenient. Having all the attendees for a function blurred out so that you have to click on each and every one of them makes the app more user unfriendly.
Awful!
I use the free version of Meetup on my iPad 7th generation and on my iPhone 6. The user experience after the latest update is AWFUL. It’s buggy and loaded with “gotchas” and functions that don’t work. They obviously want you to upgrade to the paid version, but the price seems way way too much for what you get. Thumbs down!
Pay
After 3 years they decided to charge people It used to be a good app now you have too pay a membership in order to do the stuff that it was free. I was liking the app because you could see who is going and what they look like that way you can be more comfortable now they are trying to take advantage off people.
Search for a group?
I’ve noticed that Meetup is doing all I can to try to earn more money and doesn’t know how to do it properly. So it seems now that using the app on my phone I’m not able to actually search for a group.
Meet up PITA
Obviously to make more money, Meet Up keep popping up and add every time you try to get a detail or two. They have some nerve when their website was designed 20 years ago. It’s clunky, not user-friendly, reminds me of old DOS programs
