Microsoft Authenticator

Beschreibung

Use Microsoft Authenticator for easy, secure sign-ins for all your online accounts using multi-factor authentication, passwordless, or password autofill. You also have additional account management options for your Microsoft personal, work or school accounts.
Getting started with multi-factor authentication
Multi factor authentication (MFA)provides a second layer of security. When enabled, during login after entering your password, you’ll be asked for an additional way to prove it’s really you. Either approve the notification sent to the Microsoft Authenticator, or enter the one-time password (OTP) generated by the app. The OTP codes have a 30 second timer counting down. This timer is so you never have to use the same time-based one-time password (TOTP) twice and you don’t have to remember the number. The OTP doesn’t require you to be connected to a network, and it won’t drain your battery. You can add multiple accounts to your app, including non-Microsoft accounts like Facebook, Amazon, Dropbox, Google, LinkedIn, GitHub, and more.
Getting started with passwordless
Use your phone, not your password, to log into your Microsoft account. Just enter your username, then approve the notification sent to your phone. Your fingerprint, face ID, or PIN will provide a second layer of security in this two-step verification process. After you’ve signed in with two factor authentication (2FA), you’ll have access to all your Microsoft products and services, such as Outlook, OneDrive, Office, and more.
Getting started with autofill
Microsoft Authenticator app can also autofill passwords for you. Sign-in on the Passwords tab inside the Authenticator app with your personal Microsoft account to start syncing passwords, including the passwords saved in Microsoft Edge. Make Microsoft Authenticator the default autofill provider and start autofilling passwords on apps and sites you visit on your mobile. Your passwords are protected with multi-factor authentication in the app. You will need to prove yourself with your fingerprint, face ID, or PIN to access and autofill passwords on your mobile. You can also import passwords from Google Chrome and other password managers.
Microsoft personal, work or school accounts
Sometimes your work or school might ask you to install the Microsoft Authenticator when accessing certain organization resources. You will need to register your device to your organization through the app and add your work or school account. Microsoft Authenticator supports cert-based authentication by issuing a certificate on your device. This will let your organization know that the sign-in request is coming from a trusted device and help you seamlessly and securely access additional Microsoft apps and services without needing to log into each.

Customer support a joke

Isn’t it so funny when you go to click support page it isn’t there? Can’t access my work email because it sent a code that I can’t access because the code is getting sent to a phone I no longer have and then you’re sitting in a weird loophole where you get a code sent and then you say you can’t access the code so another code like yeah that’s gonna help whoever made this app must want everyone else to be miserable because this is literally miserable

Every single time I try to get a code here nothing shows up and I’m now logged out of my work email and onedrive. I cannot update anything at work because of this stupid app.

Great unless you glance away when the ios prompt appears over the number you need to enter

Guys, show the number in a different spot! You know Apple isn’t going to accommodate that alert position…. Anytime I miss this auth alert for teams everything completely fails and I basically have to force quit both apps.

Absolutely abysmal

This is the downfall of society. You cannot get in touch with an actual person. You have to go to the website on the “support” page and it sends you in circles that basically ends up explaining to you they “can’t help”

Inoperable and useless

I was forced to download this app by my university to authenticate my email. The app worked one time, I no longer get the prompt to authenticate. There is no secondary means of authentication via a second email or text. I’m basically caught in an endless loop of requesting to sign in and my email requesting me to authenticate. The fact that the “app support” button takes me to a screen that cannot connect to a server is laughable. This app needs these glitches fixed and for this day and age to not have a customer support number or org box is subpar service. Do not recommend.

Worst app ever!

Kicked me out of my email and got me stuck on a loop of verification but the app is not showing me any codes! When I try to choose that my authenticator app is not working, it still only shows me two options for which I have to use the authenticator app! Most ridiculous and useless app ever!

Burdensome

I despise being forced to use multi factor authentication for trivial things. Unfortunately, my institution had decided to compel use of this particular app. Compared to the other three authentication platforms I have used (Steam Guard, Duo, and Google), this is by far the most cumbersome and invasive. To get a code, I must have notifications on and am made to input my password three separate times. Surely, if someone were to breach my phone, unlocking it with my password and inputting the same password again to open the app, they certainly would still remember it when asked to enter it a third time to get the code. These hoops add frustration, not security. I sure the app collects all sorts of wonderful telemetry as well. If you have any choice in the matter, seek security elsewhere. If not, you have my condolences.

Darkmode ?

When can we get darkmode, all the Microsoft have darkmode. Why not authenticator.

Terrible

Tells me to input a code on the app while I am already in the app, but nothing pops up. Then when I close the app and reopen I have to do all the same things
