Easy to use and very intuitive
The app is pretty good and they recently fixed a glitch that was causing account update issues so that’s really great.

Monarch randomly deletes transactions from the app, if you are not constantly checking and are aware of all your purchases you won’t notice that they are even missing which erases the entire purpose of a budget. The customer support does not provide a definitive solution and requires you to manually check thousands of transactions to see what is missing. I never had a similar issue with Mint which was free, but Monarch not only charges you but is unwilling to provide a satisfactory solution. Not happy at all with the product.
CIBC, Scotiabank and Wealthsimple unlink for me on the daily. Makes this app useless. I paid a subscription for nothing. Scam
*Update* Does not work in Canada. The first import worked for Amex and then it wouldn’t sync again. Paid for 2 months while support tried to fix it but it was never resolved. Old review after first import: This is the first budgeting app I’ve found that actually works in Canada and has all the core features I was looking for (I’d spent hours upon hours searching, downloading, trialing and failing to find one that works properly before finding Monarch). The bank feeds seem to work well through Plaid and Finicity, the UX is nice and intuitive, the features are much more built out that a simple solution like PocketGuard (great ai transaction categorization, easy to customize categories and build budgets, and proper tagging with flexible reporting capabilities). This seems to be by far the best solution for Canadians since most other options from the US don’t work here (like my favourite, Copilot Money).
Need to resync accounts constantly, very annoying
I was a very happy Mint user paying $0, now I have to pay 100$/yesr for this service that won’t consistently stay connected to my accounts, is extremely slow, is a poor interface compared to mint, and where the customer service constantly provides generic solutions to problems I’m having across three different financial institutions. Please someone bring the app to the standard that mint was at.
Best budgeting app I've used. Even my wife understands it!!
Canadian financial institutions do not work well with this app. It’s a frustrating experience when your main financial accounts are not synced on a daily basis. I’ve contacted Customer service several times and always got generic answers that do not solve anything. I don’t understand how you can charge people in Canada if you are not going to support these types of critical issues. Very unprofessional.
If you use tap to pay or send e-transfers, don’t use the app. The sync just pulls in the top line from bank statements so you have to go through one by one to categorize them still after comparing to the bank…. Excel would’ve been faster.
I haven been using this app since mint shutdown. The features and app is fantastic but unfortunately reason I’m giving a 3 stars. Lots of issues with Canadian banking. Wealthsimple has been broken for months and no resolution yet. Most of my assets are with WS making this app no longer usable for me.
