Transactions show up properly during your trail period but has completely stopped after u pay for the membership. Customer service is useless and no eta on fixes. Won’t allow for refund even though I contacted them immediately. SCAMMING u out of ur money!!! STAY AWAY!!!
Monarch is shaping up to be a great alternative for Mint users. However, after a year of using Monarch, I am annoyed that my CIBC account STILL disconnects every 24 hours, despite having contacted Monarch support multiple times. Monarch needs to fix this, or they will start losing a lot of Canadian customers.
Was sad when I seen mint go away. But this is honestly even better! Reports seem to be more detailed and works great. My finances improve so much more when I use monarch. The only two changes I wish it had would be the ability to categorize your spending by tags in the reports tab. The other one is this stupid two factor authentication. I realize this is an issue with the banks not you. Any app I use that connects to them has the same issue. But apps like this should have a pass around that so they are not disconnected. Really hope the banks smarten up with this and realize the value apps like monarch bring to there customers!
Like most of the other reviews, a lot of Canadian institutions require MFA repeatedly. Amex Canada is daily Wealthsimple is every week Most credit unions every few days I love the app but regardless of third party connector this makes notifications for spending useless.
I’m in Canada and have used Monarch for about a year now. Yes, I have a few connection issues, mostly with Tangerine and TD investment accounts but I’m willing to wait for the improvements, this app is well worth it. RBC accounts, TD regular accounts and Triangle Credit Cards work perfectly for me. Only missing some type of bill reminder, but again willing to wait. I was able to get rid of Quicken so that saved me some money. This app is well worth the price though!! Good job Monarch, just keep us Canadians in your minds when updating.
I really like the features and design of this app. However, like other reviewers, I’ve had a number of my Canadian institution accounts randomly stop connecting despite deleting and then re-connecting with a new sync. It makes the app very frustrating to use, even as a less-frequent user (ie. weekly instead of daily). I really want to like this app but this would be something that detracts me from paying the high yearly fee to keep it. I wish there was less emphasis on bells and whistles, and more on the basics like ensuring these connections can be kept fresh, or at least a better workflow process to reconnect.
App is good, but bank sync always fails.
It would be a great app if it wasn’t that the accounts are constantly disconnecting,
Had to replace Mint which was perfect for me to track expenses and annual budgets. Using Monarch but very tedious. It Syncs with RBC but occasionally crosses details of two transactions. With AmEx it is worse as there are frequently double or triple transactions. And with CIBC the link needs to be redone almost every second day and there are often missing transactions.
