NEED WORK

You cannot type in addresses on the map feature else “outside city limit” error message will present. Instead, you have to click the symbol to allow access to location and then adjust the pin that is dropped! Word filter is annoying since “homeless” or “kill” will trigger error. I receive 500 errors randomly and cannot submit more than 2 request else app will crash.

When I read that the city of Marietta had created a smart phone app I was excited to see my local government embracing new-ish technology and could exploit it for the public good. However, after using the app for less than 2 minutes it became apparent this was either super underfunded venture, was a product of ‘design by committee’, or was an artifact of complete impotence on the part of the developer(s). I suspect all three. Here is my experience using the app: The app crashes often. The ability to see the city news feed is worthless since I might as well just go to the webpage on safari and have a better experience, however, this feature is probably the best this app has to offer. The citizen request feature is broken. After submitting a request then going back to view it I see that the pic that I uploaded is located three quarters of the way off of the screen, along with half the text in the ‘request’ description. The iPad version of this app, is simply the iphone version with a huge border. Why not just not make an iPad version so I can at least blow it up? I submitted a ‘request’ within a couple of days of the release about a local dog park being covered in mud, and it may need new grass. Now, I not naïve enough to actually expect anything to be done about any ‘request’ that comes in through this app but, you would think with such a low adoption rate of an app like this, they might be smart to garner interest with a ‘Hey thank for using the app, we will look into it’ or something, especially when it is the type of informative feedback I would assume they’d want to know about. And the kicker is, is that new grass was actually put down in that park recently, and again, no follow-ups to that request. I tried to use the app again to report faulty wiring on a lamp post in another park; however, I gave up after the app crashed on me three times while using. What prompted me to write this review was that on October 10th the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) actually gave an award to the city of Marietta for this terrible application. This is beyond crazy! I read in the press release “Developed in-house by city IT staff to reduce costs”, and man does it show. Not only that, but there has not been a single update since the release date. I’ve been a professional developer for 7 years, and as good as I’d like to think I am, I’ve had to make small fixes and updates after every go-live I have ever had. So, if you are the developer or city official in c

It's essentially unusable. Parts of the UI don't scroll. I really hope no one actually was paid by our (the citizens') money for this junk.
