After losing Apollo because of Reddit’s atrocious treatment of the dev, I thought I’d have to quit Reddit because the official app is hot garbage.

Fortunately Narwhal 2 has saved Reddit’s bacon and is a huge improvement over the original Narwhal. Well done devs it’s an excellent app.

We all know that the official Reddit app is essentially a data harvesting tool, and ever since that absolute roaster spez made API calls cost prohibitive for 99% of developers, that we’ve all been browser bois.

Anyway, Narwhal is here to offer a premium Reddit experience that’s both cheaper than Reddit premium, and a middle finger to the exec team that pushed to monetise the API.

Tonnes of customisation, a clean and coherent UI and regular, detailed updates from the devs. 6 STARS!

So much better than the official app, and a worthy successor to Apollo. Some features are missing but the dev is working on them, several have already been implemented and progress is steady. The app is stable with no crashes or noticeable bugs at this time and issues are solved quickly when they do arise. The price is also very reasonable, considering that most if not all of it goes towards paying Reddit’s extortionate API fees. All in all the best app for reddit on iOS currently.
