Connected to the Barista device smoothly enough of the first connection. I thought this will be amazing, no idea what all those bad reviews are about…. Until the next time I came to try and update the recipes (about 10 mins later after checking out some of the extra recipes in the app). Suddenly the app won’t connect with the device to update anything. I’ve got Bluetooth on and am right next to the device (these are the only two troubleshooting points the app provides) even the app says it’s “connected” but when you go to add or remove recipes it says it’s not connected, try again with Bluetooth on and near the machine…. Absolute waste of money.

We went from one app that did everything, to two apps, for something that wasn’t even broken. This one being the one I need to do maintenance on my Nespresso machine is now causing me more work.

It literally doesn’t work, you can’t pair your machine to WiFi anymore. So how am I meant to pair it with my phone in order to get it cleaned? Who’s going to pay for my machine when it eventually breaks. All because Nespresso have clearly made things worse and still haven’t fixed it after all of this time and countless complaints from customers? 

What is the point of these new apps? Why am I having to wasted my precious time for a service that I’m paying for, that doesn’t work?

Stop trying to save money when you’re all probably getting record profits and put the customer first! Do better.

P.s. Don’t ask me to contact your complaints department. This is my complaint. Along with everyone else’s.

When I first got my Vertuo Pop it connected to the smart app no probs. I’ve since tried to use the smart app. It doesn’t recognise my machine/unable to pair. I keep getting errr code 1305. Tried looking it up no joy!!! So the smart app is of no use to me at all!!!! Very frustrating!!!

For such a big company, this app is an absolute disgrace. As others have said, received a notification that the previous app was being replaced, so switched to the new app. Initially, it insisted that I couldn’t pair my machine because it was ‘already paired’. Fine; reset the machine and went through pairing again. To do this, I needed my WiFi password. Again, no problems. Start the process, only for the app to tell me my WiFi doesn’t work. Check WiFi connection and it’s 812Mbps. No issues there. Back to the app, nope, says my WiFi doesn’t work. How a company the size of Nespresso can’t get this sorted is beyond me. It’s been months. Come on guys, do better. This app is literally pointless. And in a world where people use the word ‘literally‘ when they mean ‘figuratively’, let me be clear - I mean this app is literally pointless. It serves no purpose whatsoever, and they have the audacity to call it Nespresso SMART!!!

If I could give this 0 stars, I would. To create an app that you actually need to get the full potential out of your machine that simply never works, is insane. Our Vertuo Next worked perfectly for 2 years without any issues at all. Since this app was released our machine can no longer recognise pods. We sent it back last week for repair and received a pre-loved machine as a replace which came today. The new machine has not been able to brew even one cup of coffee. It does not work at all. I’ve thrown at least 5 perfectly good pods in the bin. The machine can clean itself but fails to brew every single time. I am utterly baffled and can only link the sudden failure in performance with the new app. With a year left on my warranty I’d like my coffee machine to make coffee again or I’ll be requesting a refund so I can purchase a coffee machine that makes coffee - who knew that would be so much to ask?

UPDATE: Even with the latest update this still doesn’t work. Surely the app can be made to work with 5Ghz WiFi?

As everyone says, the app is useless and refuses to connect to the machine. Customer services were polite but just said to wait for an app update. Come on Nespresso - sort it out please.

So they’ve forced users onto this ill-conceived and faulty app and now I can’t descale or clean my machine. Bravo. I cannot believe how bad this is. I’ve given myself 6 months trying to make it work with my Vertuo Pop machine but I’ve given up. Seriously considering binning off the machine and going with something else. Nespresso had one app that did everything and in the classic ‘we must make more money’ tactic, they’ve split the service in two and failed miserably with the important app that makes the bloody machine functional.
