NHSquicker provides information about the healthcare services available to you based on your location, helping you to choose the right service and spend less time waiting. The combined travel and waiting times estimate how long it will take you to be seen by each service. Our emergency departments are busy, and often for a minor injury, you could be seen quicker elsewhere. Please remember to always ring 999 in a life-threatening emergency. You can find information about minor injuries units, emergency departments, pharmacies, dentists, opticians, sexual health and GP surgeries. If you are not sure where to go, you can dial 111 and they will direct you to the most appropriate place for your needs. And today I really needed the app -- Nodemus172, 2024-10-28 ### ****- "A very useful app." We’ve had to visit MIU and an and e recently. The apps shows us where best to go for less of a wait. This app has the potential to be brilliant - if it worked! I work with elderly and vulnerable people in the community. Whenever I try to use the app to locate the nearest MIU with the quickest wait time, it always tells me to connect to WiFi, which I already am. I usually end up going to the closest one but if this app worked it would save time and pressure on an already stretched service by letting people know where the least waiting time is. It accepted my postcode and correctly showed nearest pharmacies but did not list any of the local surgeries in Devon, only those in Cornwall. The app nearly always says “wait times unknown” for the MIUs. This means we just take pot luck and go to nearest, there could be a long wait when we could’ve gone to another one with fewer patients waiting. The app advised my the number of patients waiting so I made a decision where to go. I had same problem as others, giving me Bristol as my local medical practice which is 143 miles away. I then noticed on the top of the app it says please note, this app is for South West area of England. Case closed - app is unsuccessful for me.
