Naxos Music Library

Veröffentlicht von: Naxos Digital Services

Beschreibung

Naxos Music Library (NML) offers over 2.73 million tracks of fine classical music recordings from more than a thousand labels with their latest releases. What sets NML apart from other streaming platforms comes down to metadata. Each piece of music comes with a rich set of information, from composers’ biographies to programme notes, instrumentation to publisher’s details, all authored by qualified musicologists. Individual subscribers and authorised users of institution subscribers can create their own playlists on top of having access to playlists created by their teachers and professors for their assignments.
NML is more than just a huge classical music audio library available for streaming. The Resources section inside the library offers many valuable add-ons and study tools available through accessing the web version.

Are you afraid of people stealing money from your app? Login expires ridiculously fast. Cannot even finish a symphony

Amazing selection, sub-par interface

For classical music, it’s tough to beat the sheer breadth and depth of the Naxos Music Library. The app’s interface for browsing and listening is not on par with the best commercial apps, but it’s serviceable and has allowed me to find both old favorites and some new treasures in the classical realm. My biggest complaint is the app’s odd fixation on “playlists” (consisting of individual tracks) as the primary mechanism for saving and organizing pieces i want to listen to again later. While the app is excellent at highlighting new and featured albums, about the only way to save albums as albums for future listening is to designate them as “favorites.” This is a welcome feature, as far as it goes, but it puts all favorites in one long list (with newest selections at the top) and I would really like a way to organize my favorite albums under named (by me) categories, whether called playlists or themes or folders. I also wish the app could play back tracks from my favorites list randomly, turning my ever-expanding favorites list into my own personal classical station.

Exceptional Music Selection

As another poster commented, the app user interface could use some tweaking. I’ve found the desktop version a far more satisfactory experience, particularly the option to shuffle ALL of my favorite songs from favorite albums. It’s not an option on the mobile app. Unlike many classical music lovers I’m not fussy about movements in any particular order when I’m on the go. It’s unfortunate that subscription costs prevent more libraries from signing up. It’s a great classical music resource. Thank You!

Best musical selection, worst app

I’m torn as others are here. I subscribed for 3 years and finally stopped because as others have mentioned you get periodically auto-logged off, making offline listening a game of chance. The interface is nearly impossible for use on tablets/iPads. I love the music selection, but I need a break. I hope Naxos upgrades their app or goes with a different software developer. A library this good deserves a first rate app. For now I’m sitting on the sidelines unsubscribed and waiting.

Love Naxos, not the interface

As others have commented, the interface could use improvement, but I love the breadth and selection. A huge plus is that you can (temporarily) download for offline listening, great for walking around or taking in the car, but the big DOWNSIDE to this is that this app logs you out at the drop of a hat. Often I load up an album to listen to when not on wifi, only to find that when I want to listen to those tracks, the app wants me to log in again, which I can’t do without turning the app’s cell data on, which kind of defeats the whole thing. Also, who wants to deal with being in “login purgatory” every time you leave the house? Another annoyance is that, even on iPads, the app only appears in “portrait” orientation, which is super annoying whenever you are using the iPad in a keyboard case that works only in landscape mode. Would love to see a couple changes to the interface, as the music selection is fantastic.

I spend more time waiting for the app to load than listening to music

Worst paid streaming app

that_musician on

This app constantly has issues with unavailable tracks which worked earlier in the day or will not load. The delay between tracks which segue into another is really unacceptable for a PAID service only app. Especially compared to non classical focus apps, this really has a lot of problems making it at times just unusable as a fully paid app. Reloading an app multiple times is not fantastic nor convenient. Would not use if I was not a student using a university login, but because so few sites offer classical music only this is really the only choice as most universities are subscribed. I would not recommend the app. I would say to use the laptop site version over this if you have to use service. Another aspect is how the app stops playing when you are in other apps like Facebook or something and it won’t pick back up unless you go to the app to hit play again or pull down to tap play.

Great content. App needs some TLC

There are a few annoying bugs. Sometimes I get logged out unexpectedly. Sometimes the back button doesn't take you back to the same part of the list you left, so you have to scroll all the way down again. It's time consuming and easy to get lost. And various other glitches that probably shouldn't have passed QA testing.

Worst app ever from a shady company!

An awful app! on

The company runs by some charlatans that the only thing they care about is money. They charge a lot but do not have even decency to provide an app that works. Every now and then it logs you out and does not recognize you and your password and does not let you in even when you change your password. Guys do not be cheap please provide us with Face recognition. You can find some music content that they claim they have, but actually they just have the cover and you cannot have access to their contents. I tried to email them several times and receive no response back. You create a playlist for yourself then it is gone after a few days for some unknown reasons. They do absolutely nothing to improve their apps.
