(Not Boring) Vibes

Really lovely, use it to stop myself opening TikTok/Twitter and instead just pop some stuff

I like generative ambient music - there are some terrific apps by Brian Eno and Peter Chilvers that I listen to all the time. So I was intrigued to try Vibes...the graphics are lovely and the spatial audio is very good, but the music fragments and sound recordings that are semi-randomly generated just aren't really interesting enough to me, and there's no option for a one-off purchase. Instead you have to pay £30 every year to own this app. You wouldn't expect to buy an album for £15 and then have to pay £15 every year to continue to own it, right? A far better option musically and for your wallet is the astonishing EōN app by Jean-Michel Jarre and Bleass studios. It generates beautiful music on the fly and you can buy it for less than £10.

Helps you focus by playing music that you don’t notice is playing in the background but you enjoy at the same time (don’t know how to explain). This is helpful if your busy doing something but want to listen as well. There are different themes which change based off the time of day and you can change them manually. It has spatial audio, there are some ways to configure what the sound sounds like as well. The visuals are a really nice touch. I’ve encountered no bugs with the app so far! A nice idea made into a great app.

So simple, but so effective and really fun. Love the concept and it’s been beautifully delivered. Amazing app.

Good vibes

I just got this app and it has kept my rapid thoughts in check throughout the day and helped me manage stress. It also helps me fall asleep at night faster than ever before. Before this app, i used to take about 3 hours to fall asleep (not exaggerating), but now it took me a magical 30 minutes. It also made me feel more calm and willing to go to sleep. This is one of the best apps I’ve ever had the privilege of downloading and completely recommend it to fill the silence of a quiet room at night, or just to have on as a background for when you’re studying or taking a break on the couch after a long day.
