I have used Omnifocus for many many years and just upgraded to Omnifocus 4. On a simple task with attached photos for an errand to a store became a nightmare to keep the task open and see the attachments. What used to be seamless and easy to track. This is now complicated as the task continues to close automatically when I'm looking at attachments. I couldn't have been more frustrated with the user experience on such a simple task. Please go back one version for your user interface as Omnifocus 4 Pro is way more difficult to use and clunky as a user. Apple reminders is great, but Omnifocus is still better for serious task management. I love the keyboard shortcut on Mac, love the Inbox concept. Just works great. Also, I almost switched to Notion but there is a big problem with Notion. Notion is great on desktop and web, but is absolutely terrible on mobile. I can’t imagine a life without this app. As an avid GTD user, this software is perfectly suited to bring me peace and achieve a mind that is “still like water”. The latest upgrade to Omnifocus 4.5 has been helpful to me just for the fact that we finally have better adjustment of text size on the Mac. Before it was either too small or too large but now there is much finer control. The app works well for me on the Mac and iPhone. Still room for improvement but it is encouraging to see this upgrade. Each control seems to have multiple functions depending on what you are doing at the time. Tapping something sequentially may do three different things. One missing function is the ability to search for a specific action item, which is important in my workflow. But it looks like Omnigroup is slow to pick up these features. The level of granularity with which you can organize your tasks and projects is unparalleled and it helps me be productive like no other app. However, I am going back to Apple Reminders because of the slow synchronization issues that Omnifocus has. If I only used one device this wouldn’t be a problem, but I happen to depend on many (Mac studio, MacBook, iPad, iPhone…) and I need synchronization to be seamless, as is the case with Reminders but also with other apps like Things 3. Omnifocus 4’s synchronization is just as clunky as in previous versions, and it has gotten to a point where I have to abandon an otherwise wonderful app. It’s a shame. -- Choooo_, 2024-11-01 ### ***** "Runs my life" OmniFocus is a fantastic app that can help you organize and focus on the things you need to do. The design changes from 3 were bad, and then during beta it was buggy (understandable) yet it got released and all those bugs stayed. Specially on iOS. [not mentioning all the horrible UX/UI design choices] Multi-selecting, drag and dropping, scrolling, multi-editing and … all are huge bug fest and crash the app. I think you wanted to use apple’s ui kit, but found it limited, then created your own kit but try to kept it as close as possible to the iOS kit. However the result is this buggy mess that looks like default iOS design, however half the features work randomly, buggy, or not implemented at all. I truly hope you come to your senses and just use the default iOS kit (idk about the web version). I am not sure what happened but it is easily the most unstable app among all apps in this category. The desktop version is an absolute wreck. You can lose information, editing child tasks alters multiple tasks in the same project or task group. Selected tags disappear or never get applied when selected. It's a mess. This is my third time coming back since they release version 4; each time with the hope they get the kinks worked out. No sir!! OmniFocus 4 is mainly an update of the user interface, and it is an excellent one, in particular for iPad. Before the iPad interface was so clunky that I would always to go my Mac to do anything. Now the Mac and iPad interfaces are nearly identical, and yet it works as native apps on each platform. Not an easy thing to do, even for Apple’s own apps.
