This dictionary is thorough and nimble, enhanced with audio clips of pronunciations and can be set to British English or [North] “American” except for spellings, that is 😏, if you want the Canadian (/British?) spelling. Good thing pronunciation isn’t (usually? ever?) affected by the differences between Canadian and US spellings. 😜 A delightful tool and in addition to the traditional & colloquial (vernacular?) definitions and etymology, offers access to multiple other languages in their own editions. Not to mention the Thesaurus included with the British English and American English Editions!

Repeated Abandonware

Oxford’s strategy seems to be to abandon their apps and replace them with new ones for which you have to pay again. I previously purchased the Canadian Oxford (CAD$33.59) and the Shorter Oxford (same price), neither of which are available any longer, though the latter still works — as long as I keep it installed and don’t get new devices, I suppose — albeit with a frustrating user interface.

Word Of The Day

I find enjoyment when reading the word of the day in the oxford dictionary. This allows new ideas to flourish throughout the day.

Ads stuck in, despite payment?

It wasn’t free, and now extremely annoying ads jump in front of everything, stopping use, harassing the user? Shame. And I make a point which advertisers have signed up to annoy me and participate in the rip-off. You’re not free to violate prior terms, why does it appear you’re attempting to?
