The repetition consolidates learning
A good teaching approach but the app doesn’t work reliably. Sometimes I have to close and reopen 3-4 times before the lesson will boot up completely - many times it just hangs ...
This is a great app for auditory learners. However, I’d advice you not to subscribe via Apple. Apple and Pimsleur don’t communicate well. Buying a subscription from Pimsleur doesn’t stop the apple one and Apple will continue to charge you. So make sure you stop it. Neither would help in getting months’ worth of deducted money.
Reliable and comprehensive
Only a few lessons in and I’m already finding that I’m picking up Japanese. The lessons are structured well with good use of repetition for reinforcement. And there are some nice little mini games and aide memoires for extra reinforcement. My only criticism would be that it’s obviously aimed for the American market as I can now confidently say “Yes. As for me, I’m American”. Which is actually not true, as I’m very much English. But it they did balance that out by teaching how to talk about the weather. A very English conversational go to.
I was surprised to find out after paying for the course, that it's entirely audio based and no text transcript provided. I learn Thai which is a difficult language to pick by ear. It would be great to have a text version too. Overall a good app, a little too repetitive - your progress will be very slow. Won't buy a next course.
Loving learning Japanese through this program!
This is the only app that has actually help me learn properly. Highly recommend
Great app but has one small bug that takes a lot of value away. The download lesson option does not work. Seriously hope this gets fixed for future version updates as it would be quite handy to not use data when learning on the go
I’ve been learning Thai using Pimsleur it helps a lot with learning the correct pronunciation/tones however some languages are favored more than others and have up to 5 levels each containing 15 hours per level so for example if you were to learn something like Japanese you could get 75 hours worth of lessons but Thai only has 1 level so you only get 15 hours practice hopefully they will add more levels in future overall I’ve had a lot of fun learning I would definitely recommend this app it’s a solid structured resource and adds recaps of the previous lesson to refresh your memory
