Plex: Watch Live TV and Movies

Not much has changed since recent big redesign. Yes a couple of updates did improve thngs a bit, but the app is still very buggy, unresponsive, freezes a lot, certain buttons don’t work in different screen orientations and so on. Yes the new version is theoretically better, but pretty much unusable in practice. Feels like some kind of (early) beta build. My biggest complaints are: - transition to landscape mode and back takes a long time and even freezes a screen for a moment (never had that problem in the old version). Also the 30s skip button doesn’t work in landscape - very weird behaviour - when watching a tv show the app does not remember subtitles setting (it has to be manually reapplied for each episode) - the app is very resource heavy, drains battery like crazy and even makes the device noticeably hot in short period of time. Sadly I cannot give more than 1 star at present moment. What good is a better looking app, that just isn’t robust enough to use it reliably, without too much distraction to what you’re actually trying to watch? In current state I spend more time fiddling with bugs and things that don’t work, than concentracing on actual content, so I’m forced to watch movies and shows on my pc app, which works fine. At least until this ios app becomes usable. Please (actually) fix the ios app and make it usable (again)!

Videos wont download, they reach some % and than restart

Downloads still sometimes mess up subtitles (on releases without embedded ones they simply don’t exist when playing back even with connection - no option to pre-download them either). Library stats and history is still only obscurely presented, no overviews, summaries or anything.

Second time in a year or so that after update it does not even start anymore. No testing at all before releasing a new version. When it works its fine, nothing spectacular but it does the job. Thanks for a broken build during lockdown - having a blast :p

Great companion to the Plex Media Server. Intuitive controls and fast interface. Also I like regular improvements and updates. Worth the purchase.

Look ma, no (HDMI) cables! Not even with the largest 1080p or BluRay files and the picture is flawless. One can have the computer on wi-fi only, TV as well, and Plex will play any and all files in any format on your TV (including subtitles) after having neatly organized one's libraries, adding the artwork, it will even play a show's theme in the background. And to top it off, you can access your multimedia files on the go and, for instance, airplay a movie to your friend's TV without having to bring it on a USB or such. Obviously one can play one's files on iPad or iPhone. It's user friendly, it doesn't crash and there's even a build for Synology NAS, so that one can do all of the above without even having a computer. There are other solutions but for the time being Plex is a step above the competition in terms of versatility, cross-platformness, reliability and performance. Great value for the price!

Works like a charm in my iPhone with AppleTV. Easy to use. Missing some features tho.
