## Protego for Reddit Description
Add a keyword, a community, a user, or a domain, and matching posts quietly disappear from your feed. Protego is a Safari extension with a companion app, on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro.

FILTER WHAT YOU CHOOSE:
- Keywords - Hide posts whose title, body, or community name matches a word or phrase
- Communities - Hide everything from a community, or block its page entirely
- Users - Hide one person's posts and comments
- Domains - Hide posts linking to a particular site
- Social Media - Hide posts linking to X, Instagram, TikTok, and more
Keywords go further: * matches a word and its variations, # matches any 1 to 3 digit number, and groups switch a whole set on or off at once. Any filter can be switched off without deleting it.

SET UP IN ONE TAP:
Pick a preset (Off, Minimal, Balanced, or Focused) and Protego applies a recommended set of options, stripping out distractions to bring new Reddit closer to the old one. Fine-tune anything afterward.

CLEAR AWAY THE CLUTTER:
- Hide thumbnails, avatars, flair, badges, vote controls, award and join buttons, and community banners
- Hide recommendations, promoted posts, login and app nudges, and Reddit Answers
- Collapse or hide comments carrying media, and the moderator comment pinned to the top of a thread
- Bring back who posted on the home, popular, and news feeds
- Skip Reddit's For You home test and return to Following (experimental)
- Land on old Reddit automatically, with an endless feed

PUT REDDIT OUT OF REACH:
Filtering hides what you do not want to see. Limits goes further and blocks Reddit itself, a step at a time: Home and Popular first, then all main feeds, then everything but direct links to posts, then all of Reddit. Pair a limit with a Focus like Sleep or Study and it turns itself on.

HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT DOES:
Protego filters text: post titles, bodies, community and author names, and link addresses. It cannot read words inside images or videos. Filtered posts are hidden from your view. Nothing is removed from Reddit, and nobody is notified.

Protego is such a useful app, yet is so simple to use. It’s an essential on my iPad. 

A couple asks/suggestions:

- Is it possible to extend the keyword filtering to include the subreddit name? For example, politic* would filter posts with politic* in the title as well as subreddits with politic* in the name. 

- Can the redirect to old Reddit toggle be added to the Quick View dropdown menu in Safari? Sometimes it’s necessary to turn it off just to quickly look at a page, and it would be handy to not have to go over to the app for that.

I just wanted to let you know that I’m really happy with the application. It works just like I expected and I’m using it all the time.

The only thing that’s bugging me is that the Reddit tab takes forever to load, especially after I filter the posts. Is there anything you can do about that?

I have installed this on my phone and iMac. When the app is active and I open reddit, half the time it filters out most of my keywords, but not all. The other half of the time, it doesn’t filter anything at all.

I was so pleased to find your extension! I’ve just purchased it and already added some filters that seem to be doing wonders. Reddit has been so depressing recently, the percentage of positive posts in recent months have been buried by an avalanche of negative ones so I just stopped browsing it entirely which as a long time Redditor, was also disappointing. After installing this, I uninstalled the Reddit app on my phone. Save to Dock on my MacBook Pro and turning on the extension works great as well.

Note that Reddit tries to push the app on you, for example chat seems to require the app.

### ****- "Good When It Works, Keywords Still An Issue"
When this program works it works extremely well. The previous problem with the application deleting keywords is now fixed. However, it is still skipping certain words. This doesn’t happen all the time but more often the longer you stay on reddit and refresh the page. The “real time” portion does not factor in a couple of words. Usually for some reason it is the words at the beginning and ending of your keywords section. Other than that, its works as intended.

I was getting so tired of seeing political stuff and drama all over my Reddit feed until I found this app. Works like a charm - just add in some keywords and boom, no more annoying posts.
