Navigation: Whatever you do, DO NOT use any view in this application for navigation!  Reported depths in all views are overstated by up to a factor of 10.  You will go aground. At least for charlotte harbor florida.

Tides: I have not used yet when on the water, but will update my review based on actual experience.  I will raise stars with a warning for navigational use, if the tidal flow algorithm works for specific gps locations.

Yes, many people have been frustrated with this app as it just stopped working last fall, and I use it for my company every week. Last fall they sent me a beta which got me back online, and when the beta expired and nothing worked, they gave a me a credit for the new $6.99 version which is working perfectly. So while app has struggled, customer service is on point. Thank you.
