The Fine Print

• Surf Tracking: A monthly or annual subscription is required to track your surfs using a Rip Curl Search GPS Watch or Apple Watch. Your subscription starts with a free trial – cancel anytime before it ends if you don’t want to continue. To avoid being charged, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends via iPhone > Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions.

• Boss of the Break®: To compete, you’ll need a public account and a selected Home Break (you can update this anytime in Account Settings).

• Surfline Cam Rewind: Available via the Surfline app and requires a Surfline account.

When I bought the watch, the app was free. With the price we pay for the watch, it should be free too. Suddenly, I had to pay subscription to unhide my last 3 sessions. Now they are unlocked but still don’t show up on Surfline.

Seriously! The app is useless… poorly designed, functions poorly & poor service/backup. Then the Rip Curl watch is nearly just as useless. Then Rip Curl have the b|00dy audacity to charge now to use these more useless unreliable features than before the so-called ‘upgrade’. This ‘upgrade’ occurred around April ‘25 & you can check all the 1 star reviews escalating since then. Seriously pathetic!

The integration between the Apple Watch and the rip curl app is hit and miss, plus most surfs only around 30% of your waves register. Tried both rip curl watches and Apple Watches, with both sub optimal. Rip curl watch wasn’t worth the money and then to add insult further a subscription fee has been added. Feel a refund for both would be the least rip curl could do and move away from sub optimal offerings and stick to their core strengths, they aren’t a tech company.

Set watch for tracking a bicycle ride, recorded 23 waves. Most waves in one session 105, ridiculous. Longest wave 4.4 km and fastest wave 99.9 kmh, total rubbish.  App does not keep quiver dims, I do not ride any 17ft boards, especially not 8 of them

The previous app worked.
Since the new app was  developed, no surf history can be seen on “Feed” in the new app.

If the latest surf can be seen on the bottom of the home page, it shows a time stamp that the surf is about to start and will finish in two hours.
None of the new categories works eg Speed Demon or any other history shows.
 
“Feed” shows 0 surfs ever recorded.

All Following and crew are Private, although settings are public.
A new crew was set up & doesn’t work.

Updating to a GPS 3 watch did nothing.

Rip Curl customer service have been unable to come up with any other conclusion other than my phone is the latest model and the new app doesn’t work on it.

Tried entering my email & password on 5 earlier versions of Apple I phone, 2 didn’t work, 2 showed some history & no info in the new categories.
I iPhone worked fine.
Not mine.
Perhaps if the old app which worked with my new phone was “Restored” I could see still see my surf history & crew.

New app needs to be binned.
