Rover—Dog Sitters & Walkers

No back ground checks are being done on sitters. Jessica in Hamilton has killed 2 dogs while watching them and Rover has done nothing. I will never use this app again. I hope it gets taken down.

They take A LOT of the money you make. It’s about 20% of the profits and since it’s declared revenue the government will take more at end of year. So about 40% of what you make gets taken away. (Put money aside for that) So as much as this is good as a side gig, if you don’t take your clients off of app it’s a lot of work for little pay out. A benefit of being in app is that you are insured for vet bills in the case something does happen. For the animal lover you’ll have fun. Do be weary that pet parents don’t always tell you everything. I’ve had “trained dogs” pee on floors and furniture. Others that say their dogs are good at home for 2-3 hours, but cry endlessly with separation anxiety. Parents that don’t bring supplies (which are added costs to supply as a sitter). Those sort of things. With that being said, I would take note that just as much as pet parents need to be selective of sitters, a sitter should also be selective of the parents. Even with the lows, I’ve had a nice experience meeting pet parents and having little fur babies around the house. Note, this is not a good passive income. It takes real work to care for the pets of others.

Several dogs died in care of one dog sitter in our area booked through rover, they have not helped with the investigation

Seems this app isn’t very selective about who they let advertise services. Multiple dogs have died under the care of it’s users. I would not just trust anyone with my dog.

Any issues are quickly resolved. Easy to use. Love love love it!!! As a sitter I love that my clients know I have been vetted with a background check and money never exchanges hands on drop off or pick up. The customer service is always so quick to respond!

What is stopping them

I’ve been a sitter through Rover for 2 years now. It’s been a great way for me to earn income while in school full-time. Love the connections I have made. Great experience

I’ve been a Pet sitter with Rover for almost 3 years and I appreciate the referrals, application, and more importantly the support. Their care team have been very responsive to inquiries and reports of small bugs in the system. Rover has kept me quite busy with a regular income to supplement my retirement. Thank you!

Disgusting platform with no support. Sitters are not vetted properly. Agents are useless and the app is buggy and crashes often. I would save yourself the headache and not use this service.
