ShelfPlayer

ShelfPlayer is a powerful iOS application for listening to audiobooks and podcasts, designed for users with self-hosted Audiobookshelf libraries. Built in Swift 6 for iOS 18+, ShelfPlayer is fast, privacy-respecting, and deeply integrated with the Apple ecosystem.

ShelfPlayer does not include any media content. A running Audiobookshelf instance is required to use the app.

Beim Abspielen von Hörbüchern pausiert/stoppt die App immer wieder ohne erkennbaren Grund. Auch bei heruntergeladenen Büchern, also kann es nicht an der Server Config liegen.

Ich nutze ShelfPlayer schon sehr lange und war bisher absolut begeistert von der App. Meiner Meinung nach ist sie eine der besten, wenn nicht sogar die beste App für Hörbücher im AppStore. Sie bietet normalerweise eine intuitive Bedienung und ein durchdachtes Design, das das Hörerlebnis enorm verbessert.

Leider habe ich seit dem letzten Update erhebliche Probleme, die die Nutzung der App nahezu unmöglich machen. Downloads bleiben dauerhaft bei 100 % hängen, ohne dass sie abgeschlossen werden. Es gibt nur einen Fortschrittskreis als Anzeige, sodass man nicht einmal sieht, was genau schiefläuft. Egal, wie lange ich die App offen halte oder das Handy aktiv halte – es hilft nichts. Auch eine Neuinstallation hat das Problem nicht behoben.

Ein weiteres großes Problem ist das Streaming über das mobile Datennetz. Sobald die Verbindung kurzzeitig schlechter wird, springt die App im Hintergrund willkürlich in andere Kapitel. Dabei wird aber weiterhin das ursprüngliche Kapitel angezeigt – z. B. Kapitel 10, obwohl tatsächlich Kapitel 20 abgespielt wird. Dieses Verhalten macht das Hören extrem frustrierend, da man ständig zurücksuchen muss, wo man eigentlich war.

Momentan ist die App leider kaum nutzbar, was wirklich schade ist, da sie vorher meine unangefochtene Nummer eins für Hörbücher war. Ich hoffe sehr, dass die Entwickler diese Probleme schnell beheben können, damit ShelfPlayer wieder den hervorragenden Standard erreicht, den ich so geschätzt habe.

Generell gut, aber seit dem letzten Update seit dem der Timer unten rechts ist, ist der Timer schwer „anklickbar“. Ich nutze es auf einem IPad. Mit dem Stift kann man das Sleep Timer Icon problemlos anklicken, was das ganze etwas komischer macht. Und es funktioniert nicht im Hintergrund. Auch wenn ich das erste Problem störender finde

Vor dem letzten Update hatte ich immer mal wieder kleinere Probleme. Nervig, aber trotzdem die beste App für audiobookshelf. Jetzt – mit dem Update –ist sie perfekt und ich habe keine Probleme mehr. Jeden Cent wert.

### ****- "Sehr gut, Voice Over ok, leicht verbesserungswürdig"
Die App ist schlank und aber super. Der Untertitel der eigenen Bücher wird nicht angezeigt. Das ist schade. Es wäre gut, wenn man die noch einblenden könnte. Die App ist mit dem Screen Reader VoiceOver von Apple gut zu bedienen. Auf dem „jetzt hören“ Tab werden die Elemente allerdings nicht gut vorgelesen.

Die App ist genial und macht vom Design deutlich mehr her als die offizielle App, die immer noch in der Betaphase ist. Diese App ist im Preis definitiv wert. 

Es wäre noch die Kirsche auf der Torte, wenn es bei einem Timer auch eine Live Aktivität auf dem Sperrbildschirm geben würde.

Sehr gute App. Schönes Design und funktioniert tadellos. Würde mir noch wünschen das Carplay funktioniert. Kann aber auch sein das ich es noch nicht verstanden habe warum keine Titel angezeigt werden. Trotzdem würde ich die App wieder kaufen.

Ich finde die App super schön und intuitiv zu bedienen und vermisse trotzdem keine essenziellen Funktion. Was mir leider wirklich fehlt, ist eine Übersicht über den aktuellen Fortschritt der Downloads.

Gut gemachte App. Das Lazy Loading ist für meinen Geschmack zu lazy. Bilder laden sichtlich nach.

Ich finde auch keine Downloadübersicht. Ein bestimmtes Buch musste sehr lange geladen werden, aber es gibt scheinbar keine Übersicht wie viel noch aussteht.

Prologue ist in Summe die reifere App, aber leider bisher nur für Plex verfügbar.
