This one assumes you remembered, opened the app, looked at the list, and closed it again. Start Somewhere hands you one task at a time. The rest stays out of sight until you go looking for it. WHAT IT DOES Pick for me. One task, three answers: start it, say you're waiting on something, or say not this one. Declining is free, it is never counted, and nothing keeps score. Start for five minutes. Any task can be opened with a small commitment. The number is a floor rather than a ceiling — when you reach it, nothing happens. No sound, no interruption. Keep going or stop. Everything, when you want it. The backlog sits behind a door you choose to open. Sort it how you like. Start or finish anything in place. Quick review of old items. Read the pile down one card at a time — delete, edit, or keep. Deleting is reversible, and there is a room for the deleted things whose only button is "put it back". Take stock. Thirty questions for the things that matter and never get written down, each one ending in something small enough to finish. Errands. Anything that needs leaving the house lives on its own list, so it never turns up while you're at a desk. WHAT IT DOESN'T DO No streaks. No counts. No badges. No notifications. No daily target and nothing that ends the day. Nothing tells you how far behind you are, because that has never once helped. It is not a distraction blocker. There is no website filter and no screen-time limit. It works on the task you are avoiding rather than on the temptation. It is not a project manager. No collaboration, no shared lists, no tags, no sub-tasks, no dashboard. If you enjoy arranging a system, you will find this very bare. PRIVACY No account, no sign-up, no server. Everything lives in a file on your phone. No analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifier and no third-party code. The app makes no network requests of its own — the only traffic is the App Store purchase itself. There is no sync. Two devices mean two separate lists. That is a real limitation and it follows directly from having nowhere to sync to. PRICE One month free, then $2.99 a month or $24.99 a year. One price covers everything either way. No free tier, no upsell, and nothing held back to make a paid version look better. Start Somewhere is an auto-renewing subscription. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. It renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of that period. You can manage or cancel in Settings on your device. The free month is available once per Apple ID across both plans.
