Stellarium Mobile is a planetarium app that shows exactly what you see when you look up at the stars.
Identify stars, constellations, planets, comets, satellites (such as the ISS), and other deep sky objects in real time in the sky above you in just a few seconds, just by pointing the phone at the sky!
This astronomy application has an easy to use and minimalist user interface, that makes it one of the best astronomical applications for adults and children who want to explore the night sky.
Stellarium Mobile features:
• View an accurate night sky simulation of stars and planets for any date, time and location.
• Dive in a collection of many stars, nebulas, galaxies, star clusters and other deep sky objects.
• Zoom on realistic Milky Way and Deep Sky Objects images.
• Discover how people living in other regions of the planet see the stars by selecting the shapes and illustrations of the constellations for many sky cultures.
• Track artificial satellites, including the International Space Station.
• Simulate landscape and atmosphere with realistic sunrise, sunset and atmosphere refraction.
• Discover 3D rendering of the major solar system planets and their satellites.
• Observe the sky in night mode (red) to preserve your eyes adaptation to darkness.
Stellarium Mobile contains in-app purchases allowing to upgrade to Stellarium Plus. With this upgrade, the app will display objects as faint as magnitude 22 (versus magnitude 8 in the base version) and enable advanced observing features.
Stellarium Plus features (unlocked with in-app purchase):
• Reach the limit of knowledge by diving in a massive collection of stars, nebulas, galaxies, star clusters and other deep sky objects:
- All known stars: Gaia DR2 catalog of over 1.69 billion stars
- All known planets, natural satellites and comets, and many other minor solar system objects (10k asteroids)
- Most known deep sky objects: a combined catalog of over 2 million nebulas and galaxies
• Zoom almost without limits on high resolution images of deep sky objects or planetary surfaces.
• Observe in the field, even without internet connection, with a "reduced" set of data: 2 million stars, 2 million Deep Sky Objects, 10k asteroids.
• Control your telescope through WIFI: drive any GOTO telescope compatible with NexStar, SynScan or LX200 protocols.
• Prepare your observing sessions using the advanced observation tools, to predict a celestial object observability and transit times.
Stellarium Mobile is made by the original creator of Stellarium, the well known open source planetarium and one of the best astronomy applications on Desktop PC.

Sky Cultures is a beautiful feature!
Very informative, user-friendly & adaptable application with affordable subscription options and a gorgeous user interface experience.
I particularly love the Sky Cultures feature to explore constellations from different cultural groups across the globe. Very cool that I can explore both how my ancestors used the stars through a Norse lens & was very surprised to see the options even extend to the Māori interpretation from my home country Aotearoa New Zealand — many overlook not only our country but most often our Indigenous national heritage, so this was an incredible blessing to find in a stargazing app! My only suggestion for improvement here would be to include perhaps the most important stars for Māori: Matariki (the Pleiades), which have much significance in tradition & it has become a recognised national public holiday here!
Thank you Stellarium, I look forward to continuing my stargazing with this special new tool 🌌✨🇳🇿
Great app
The free app is great. The paid option is deceptive. The so call advanced planning show elements for the next 24 hours only without a way to plan in advanced or to find when an objector will be visible in the future.
WhataWonderWorld
This app is so cool just love it, otherwise will let you know.
Its cool
Hi
This app replicates the Desktop Stellarium very well!
I have been a loyal user of Stellarium since 2007 when it was distributed on CDs among my high school friends back then. I instantly fall in love with the app, it is truly of help when I try to identify sky objects and looking for eclipses. Now with Stellarium Mobile in my hand, it is simply a desktop Stellarium brought to you into iPhone. This app is as wonderful as the one on desktop! Great job!
The Number One Astro App
Very useful - adaptable, scalable, searchable, informative & user friendly 👍🏻👌🏻
What I think
It’s so cool how you can see which stars are which and which constellations they show. This is a great app to look at the stars and figure out which stars are which.

Great tool for stargazing, but missing a good amount of objects
I’ll start by saying that this app really is great, it streamlines star gazing in a very intuitive app, and I was so pleased with it that I ended up buying the premium version (which is it a very affordable price, might I add)
however, it has some notable flaws
first off, although the premium version does have a pretty huge collection of stars and galaxies, I’ve noticed there are a good number of stars specifically that are just not present or are missing alternative labels
There are no stars from the Frank Ross catalogue that have their Ross catalogue names assigned to them. For instance, the red dwarf Ross 128 does not appear in the search unless you go and search the alternative designations for it online and then put those into the search instead. Not tremendously convenient, if you ask me. There are a number of other catalogues and designations missing as well, including Groombridge, the WR Wolf-Rayet catalogue, the Gum nebula catalogue, the RCW nebula catalogue, Trumpler objects, Collinder designations, and likely some others too.
I realize that I listed a lot there, but integrating even a few of these other catalogues would eliminate a lot of frustration.
On a side note, the app absolutely drains through battery, even when using the lowest possible battery settings. On my year and a half to two year old phone I can go out with close to 60 or 70% battery and be down to single digits in a little over an hour. Sure, I could bring my phone out with more charge, but I also think that there surely has to be some way to optimize the app a bit better for battery life across the board.
None of this is to discount the good of the app of course, as I mentioned previously I do really love having this app to use for my telescope excursions. I would very much like for the less than stellar (forgive the pun) spots to get more polish.
AMAZING APP!!
It can help with star gazing, and locating stats that you might not have expected to see there, and you can see the future locations of the stars and planets too, which is great!
