Strange Horticulture is an occult puzzle game in which you play as the proprietor of a local plant store. Find and identify new plants, pet your cat, speak to a coven, or join a cult. Use your collection of powerful plants to influence the story and unravel Undermere’s dark mysteries.

WELCOME TO UNDERMERE

Welcome to Undermere, a quaint town surrounded by hag-infested forests and rugged mountains. You are the Horticulturist, owner of local plant store Strange Horticulture. As a cast of colorful customers come by your shop, you are quickly thrust into an occult mystery stretching back hundreds of years.

EXPLORE THE LANDS BEYOND

Explore the lands beyond your store to find new plants, but be careful! The dark woods and lakes are not always friendly to a simple herbalist. You might discover powers beyond your wildest dreams - or lose your mind completely. Use context clues to determine which places to visit, and which to avoid!

AN EVER-GROWING COLLECTION

Using your trusty encyclopedia and clues found on your explorations, you learn more about the strange plants you come across. By identifying each plant, you will be able to use their effects to influence the story -- from hypnotic hallucinogens to powerful poisons.

REDESIGN FOR MOBILE

The game has been reworked to offer the best experience possible on your mobile and tablet. Enjoy your interactions with the world of Undermere in the greatest settings.

I’m loving playing this, the only thing that is bugging me is the plant area, I’m sure on PC you have shelves to put plants on. I would like the shelf option so I don’t have to keep going side to side to find plants.

It has been a while since I bought a game and I was so pleased to have picked this one.  A brilliant concept and really engaging.  I loved the way the story developed through identifying the plants. Also I used to live in Northwest England and was enchanted to find it was set in an area I know.

I did enjoy playing this, but expected more for the price. A shame as it’s a really good concept.

Pro’s: 

In the difficulty sweet spot - not too easy, not too hard.

Unique idea, loved the concept.

Con’s:

Expected something a smidge more ambitious for price.

No ‘world’ to go in to - I don’t always mind this, but in this case I thought the backstory was good enough that I wanted to be able to see these places (esp since they seem be based North England).

Big con - eats your battery and overheats your phone. This is bad news, and the game is nowhere graphic/action heavy enough to justify it. This, more than anything, would put me off the game as it’s poor at best and suspicious at worst.

Crashes/gets stuck - possibly related to the above. And I am not on an old phone, so it shouldn’t be doing this.

Having problems making the first Elixir, don’t have Prittle in inventory and apparently it’s in location I13

When I go there it says i have already collected but it’s not in my inventory - is this a bug or am i being thick ? :)

I don’t normally review games until I’ve finished them, but this is so good that I want to encourage the developers. A thoroughly engaging game that I’m finding difficult to put down ( a rarity for me these days on the iPad,  there are so many mindless copycat games out there that I often give up searching). Read the reviews about the pc version for gameplay and praise and you’ll see that this is definitely worth buying. Please bring more games like this to the app store…. and make them easy to find.

This game is great! The characters are engaging, the puzzles are interesting, and there’s plenty of new locations and plants to discover. Well worth buying. 
 
I also appreciate when any game developers bring a predominately pc game to mobile and the App Store, it must require a lot of work. Rating it 4, and would push it to 5, if I could play this with the Apple Pencil. To me, It feels like the perfect game for it. Precise touch points and being able to scribble on labels are what I see as some cool benefits. 

I am very much enjoying this game and can’t wait to discover more secrets!

So I’m reviewing this game again as I hadn’t got that far in, I’ve now played more and am stunned at how incredible this game is, I hadn’t realised just how packed full of puzzles it would be, I love the fact your left to work things out yourself too many games spoon feed you and ruin any enjoyment. This game is superb and I haven’t needed a hint so far, I’ve had so many Aha moments when an idea for an answer to a clue has been correct, it makes you feel so good. They have got every part of this game perfect from the story to the plant acquiring to the clues and map. Whoever created this is a genius and has my unwavering gratitude this is one of the best games I’ve downloaded in a long time.thank you so much!

Strange device stays scrambled making it impossible to use. I’ve seen others online and the lens on the device appears focused after adding the plant. Not sure if it’s a bug or just an irritating quirk of the game. The lens looks like TV static.
