The first issue I had was that my phone was too “old” - eh didn’t have the most recent iOS. Recently upgraded to a new phone and was looking forward to using this app which is encouraged on the platform. 

Well it’s rubbish. I get a bunch in my feed I don’t want to read. Many bot accounts only interested in follow4follow. 

Worst thing  is I can’t create any content except silly notes that no one reads - I wanted to be able to write and publish proper posts. 

A waste of time - will stick to the desktop version.

I love the content this app brings together. Unfortunately, the app has an awkward user interface and is routinely buggy (eg, it won’t let me open certain podcast episodes and tends to repeat play the exact same episode, regardless of which one I select).  If I could access my subscription content on another app like PocketCasts or the iOS podcasts app, I would stop using this one.

Oh geez.. This app suffers the same frustrating behaviour as FB. When you navigate away from the app for 30 minutes to take care of other business the app shifts focus to the home page and you lose your place. It’s very awkward to find your way back to the article you were on previously. Pretty stupid feature for an app that promotes the long form.

First download and presented with a splash screen with nothing on it apart from the wallpaper. Turns out that there is a sign in button at the bottom of the screen that you can only see in portrait mode. I’m using an iPad Pro 12.9” with a Keyboard. A lot of people have them. Please consider updating your code so that the sign in shows in Landscape. I hope to update my review after using the app for a while but still waiting for the sign in authentication email after a few attempts and a lot of time, this also needs to be reviewed.

This app doesn’t work. After talking to their support chatbot I got told “Since the app is not functioning on your device, I recommend continuing to use Substack through your web browser for now. You can enjoy all Substack features through the web version at substack.com.”

Up joining, which I only did because of a newsletter I tried to subscribe to, the app to me feels nothing but a data harvesting tool. Why do you need my phone number to read a newsletter. Within a minute of joining 5 emails received!! Honestly why do you need to bombard new users with pointless emails. Worst of all tried deleting my account and it won’t respond, funny that.

I subscribe to several Substacks, and I downloaded the app for a more comfortable reading experience. It worked fine for a while, but recently when I open the app, it won't let me use it at all until I "select 3 interests" and God knows what else. Other reviews indicate that I'll end up subscribed to a bunch of nonsense I didn't ask for.

I already pay substack money, just let me read my damn newsletters without trying to bombard me with other rubbish too!
