Surfshark: VPN for Australia

I’m still setting myself up so will get back in and write a proper review after using all of the functions it offers in a couple of week! Massive shoutout to #tylerandtodd for this hookup! Love their youtube content and everything they are about. Can’t wait for them to return from their Xmas/NewYear holiday break! Surfshark… ya’ll got my business because of these two amazingly inspirational gentlemen! Acknowledge their pulling power ASAP!!!!

I first subscribed last year, and everything was alright. However, this year, and after making the whole year payment, they have blocked my account (still trying to figure out why…) and they are not giving me any solution nor refund of my money.

Good app and great service overall but it is a little suspicious that the app itself doesn’t have settings to disable analytics and crash reports. These are on by default so you have to disable these in the iOS settings under the Surfshark app settings. A bit more transparency and control on how the app is reporting on the users would be better, especially for a VPN service. Also app managed to turn on background app refresh for itself when it’s turned off overall on my device so that might be a bug as it sucked into my battery badly. Otherwise recommended so far…

I really love Surfshark. It’s easy, cheap and effective. Until recently… for the last 6 months or so it’s just been terrible for most popular internet things - Gmail, Netflix, Facebook, LinkedIn etc. they all just hang nowadays. Is that expected? Surely not. I hope it improves otherwise I’ll be looking for another that doesn’t require much handling.

My 24 month subscription doesn’t expire for another 3 months but today I got a big red alert that I can’t use Surfshark because my credit card has expired. I thought my subscription must have been due for renewal so I went in to pay for it but was very confused to see that it’s not due to renew for another 3 months. I’m going to look for another VPN provider because this is unacceptable and a breach of NZ consumer laws to restrict access to a service that I’ve paid for. It’s a real shame because up until now I really liked Surfshark and I’ve been using them for years, but if they’re going to behave like a bunch of sociopaths they can get stuffed. Did someone from the Adobe billing team join the organisation or something?

Really good App for the best VPN I have used, unlimited devices and many countries make it better than the rest even though it's not always the fastest it's been my choice for several years now!

It’s fine for the vpn. I didn’t need it anymore and turned off my auto renewal (annual). And it automagically turned on a month before. Plain thievery. Ask me for proof and I’ll give you it.

If you decide to subscribe, I highly recommend paying via Apple as cancelling your subscription is much easier via a trusted third party. My subscription didnt cancel and I couldnt remove my expired card saved on my account - apparently they can still charge my bank with authorisation from an expired card. Cancelling a subscription with payment information saved directly with them is incredibly difficult - I initially cancelled but couldnt remove my card saved so I let it expire. Came the following year and it was charged somehow to my account. The only option is to use their chat feature or fill out an online form - the chat kept promoting their other subscription services and I had to keep reiterating I wanted the subscription cancelled which I did before. They wouldnt remove my saved payment information and advised the account had to be deleted altogether once my refund was processed which then my subscription could be deactivated.

Extremely intuitive to use with great documentation for anything your unsure about.
