Forschung und Weiterentwicklung von 3D-Visualisierungstechniken werden vor allem in der Film- und Unterhaltungsbranche vorangetrieben. Auch swisstopo nutzt diese neuen Möglichkeiten der 3D-Visualisierung. swisstopo hat untersucht, wie sich ihre 3D-Geodaten – allen voran das Landschaftsmodell der Schweiz swissTLM3D – in eine Game Engine integrieren und visualisieren lassen. swisstopo VR zeigt dem Publikum anhand von acht ausgewählten Szenen das Potential der swisstopo 3D-Geodaten für die Virtual Reality. swisstopo VR basiert auf der Game Engine Unity. - 3D-Geodaten von swisstopo - Für die Entwicklung der swisstopo VR App wurden folgende swisstopo 3D-Geodaten aufbereitet: swissTLM3D, swissALTI3D, swissBUILDINGS3D 1.0 und 2.0 sowie swissNAMES3D. Das Produkt swissTLM3D ist das detaillierte und flächendeckende Topografische Landschaftsmodell der Schweiz. Es umfasst die natürlichen und künstlichen Objekte wie auch die Namendaten in vektorieller Form.
