Synth & Sampler App with AUv3

“Nothing sounds quite like a Synclavier”
World-class iOS synthesis has arrived! The Synclavier® II helped shape a generation of popular music and film soundtracks. Now this beast of an emotional vintage synthesizer has been incarnated on iOS using much of the core DSP code from the original and keeping the authentic red-button interface that is both deep and immediate.
Not only retro, but decidedly modern: fully compatible with MPE, Ableton Link, Audiobus 3, MIDI. And the included AUv3 client can run inside of iOS DAWs such as GarageBand, NanoStudio 2, BeatMaker 3, Cubasis 3, Auria Pro.
The powerful Synclavier DSP Engine affords 12 Partial Timbres, Timbre Frames, Samples, FM-Synthesis and Additive-Synthesis methodologies.
It’s so easy to create playable rich string sounds, fantastic Moog esque drones, Prophet like pads, crazy FM brass noises, or Roland 808 style drum hits. It’s a sound designer’s dream and a synthesist’s wonderland.
But there’s more! We’ve added a ton of stuff. The original hardware was 8-bit. With newer technology, we can pack more fidelity and more features in this already awesome synth.
MPE compatibility, seven timbre “quick-change” character buttons, 16-track mixing console, crazy-good Artist Preset Libraries from world-renowned sound designers, and lots more. The Synclavier was always a versatile attention-getting instrument, but now it’s a powerhouse synth to be reckoned with!
Release 1.30 features include -
• iPad, iPhone and iPad Touch compatibility iOS9 or later
• 96-button authentic VPK interface
• AUv3 client compatibility for use within iOS DAWs
• 16 original “Factory Preset Libraries” (8 banks x 8 entries) - 979 timbres

Synclavier Go! is compatible with all iPad, iPhone and iPad Touch models that can operate iOS 9.0 or later. Soundfile playback and AUv3 compatibility require iOS11 or later. The latest iOS version that is compatible with your device is recommended.
The Synclavier® knob is as unique today as it was revolutionary at the time of its introduction. The knob is a rate-of-change controller; close your eyes and let your right-brain kick in to the sound design process. Forget the numbers; forget the digits; let your ears guide the process. Sound design with a touch-screen and Synclavier® knob is as different from a mouse-driven GUI as, well, Synclavier® was different than the Fairlight CMI! The Synclavier Knob is an exciting and authentic option, but is not required for Synclavier Go! since a virtual knob is provided in the app.
Note to Parents: Synclavier Go! is as educational as it is historic and authentic. This app can introduce your teenager to the technical aspects of sound and sound design in a fun and informative environment.

Interface with midi

I find this difficult to interface with a midi device

Is definitely on the glitchier side, but still worth it

These samples are god tier. Amazingly lifelike. That said, the app is very buggy in some ways, so write down which samples you use for what in case it glitches out.

Thanks for AUv3!

I almost bought a hardware Synclavier in the 80’s but my backers pulled out the when market fell. 😆

So Much Love Put Into This App

It’s a very unique and intuitive method of synthesis. An absolute joy to play and to program (even if you don’t 100% know what you are doing.) This app sounds great and is certain to offer something you don’t have already. Lots of synths out there that are of a much lower quality. This app on the other hand is a complete instrument worth far and away more than the asking price. Read through the introduction to learn the ropes and then get ready to sink your teeth in. There is a lot on offer here. Incredible depth. A might thank you to the developers and inventor of the OG system it’s based upon!

Don’t Buy If You Like Using Midi to Control Parameters

The synclavier is a mythical thing...sure it used to cost a fortune and take up a room. I was excited to finally take the plunge and spend a small amount of money on this beast This app is a recreation and thus a lot of the annoyances can be passed off as quirky. In fact, the interface is enjoyable, because it is so different...and that can allow for creative possibilities. The red buttons are cool, the synthesis is cool, and the sounds you can get from this are awesome. But this is a full priced app, and it should have the ability to map midi control to the knob. I understand that everyone needs to make money...but your knob is what 3-400 dollars? People who want that would buy it anyways...give the common man a break and make the knob mappable.

But please raise the volume, I always have to put this AUV3 to the max or otherwise it just gets diminished to the point of non-existence because of how low the sound is. Not a big deal and can always be dealt with with other AUV3s, but it just makes it more practical to have a more standard volume level.

Keeps getting better with every update!

I’m always excited when I see a new Synclavier update waiting for me. The new addition of AUv3 support and sound files (with the included Synclavier Timbres) is wonderful. It helps my iPad workflow immensely and these classic sounds are fun, inspiring, and very usable. So glad to see this app steadily progressing and becoming more powerful with each new release. Keep up the good work!

I owned two Synclavier in the 1980s & 90s. This is AWESOME!

I am excited to return to the instrument that inspired much of my creative output decades ago. I am planning on integrating these sounds into my next orchestral premiere in FEB, 2021: Concerto for Orchestra: The Pandemic. I expect the Synclavier sounds to be integral in merging with the 50-piece orchestra. cb3music.org

Blown Away

Seriously? Apparently, yes. I worked a lot with the Synclavier back in the day, and, like the lesser but still groundbreaking Voyetra 8, it was sorely missed after it succumbed to what I’m guessing were the economies of scale/competition/technology that arose. Having spent untold hours “on the wheel” creating sounds we never thought we could imagine, now imagine how I feel experiencing that magic again for thirty bucks. Seriously? Uh, again, apparently, yes. I applaud NED’s democratization of this iconic and still unmatched creative tool. Give us in-app purchases out the wazoo, I’m a mere $199,970.01 ahead of the game. Fantasy: a dedicated controller/control surface with a wheel and a nice keybed? Ooh, I’d buy it in an instant, and would still be $19x thousands ahead. There’s a business model in here somewhere... My sincere congratulations to Synclavier for this amazing gift to serious synthesists and musicians everywhere. Don’t even hesitate. This app is superlative.
