## Termius Description
Termius is an SSH client and terminal, as it should be. Connect with one tap from any mobile and desktop device—no re-entering IP addresses, ports, and passwords.

With a free Termius Starter plan, you can:

· Connect from your mobile and desktop device with SSH, Mosh, Telnet, Port Forwarding, and SFTP.
· Get a desktop-grade terminal experience with a virtual keyboard covering all the special keys required, or connect your Bluetooth keyboard.
· Use gestures or shake the device while in the terminal to emulate stroking of Tab, arrows, PgUp/Down, Home, and End, etc.
· Work in several sessions simultaneously with a multi-tab interface and split-view support.
· Authenticate using hardware FIDO2 keys.
· Set custom environment variables.
· Customize your terminal themes and fonts for each connection.
· Save your favorite and frequently used commands and shell scripts to execute them with a tap instead of typing.

### **--- "Soooo unstable on iOS on iPad 6"
Update - 3rd of january 2024:
In combination with me buying a heavy-duty new iPad Pro with substantially more power AND Termius trying to make their app more stable in the latest version, I can now say, that it is MUCH more stable, but still under heavy stress when dealing with a long output. But now ai can create multiple connections to my VMWare ESXi server, replicating ZFS to a VM NAS, and leave the program running when I lay the iPad down to sleep. It is typically still running these important things in the morning.

BUT

I have lost the shortcuts above the keyboard, which have been moved to the sidebar. It is NOT working for me. The Ctrl or ALT buttons are not self-releasing, as the should, so I must manually turn them off, after each ctrl-key-combination. Annoying!

So I raise my evaluation to 2 stars, because the remaining issues is a problem, when You use the app many hours each day.

Old post, that took them years to fix:
I use SSH professionally and a LOT!!! So far Termiushas been the only real client, that supported all the features that were nice in the daily handling of AIX/Unix/Linux servers. BUT The main problem for me, is that it is very unstable. I have found out, that if your terminal are ‘noisy’ and has a lot of output, then You will most likely have the whole app crash - not only the terminal session. I have experienced more than I can count, that all my terminals (sometimes 5+) are crashing because of this annoying behaviour THAT THEY HAVEN’T FIXED SINCE I REPORTED IT 2-3 YEARS AGO. And their command suggestions are not aligned with the command You are typing. Today I was typing: ‘gstat -I 3s -p’ and because I have made it a snippet, it was suggested to me after typing ‘gs’. When I selected the chosen suggestion I ended up with ‘gsstat-I 3s -p’ = misspelled. Annoying and I am just waiting for an alternative, because the developers are not doing anything about it. A few years ago I wrote a similar review, and was contacted by the Termius developers. They made me make them a list of the problems, so the could fix them. Nothing happened, and no feedback to me. A lot of the errors in the program are years old and it seems that Termius is just a money machine for them. SO my suggestion is: buy an alternative, if You are using iPad like me or if You want an app that is not maintained. I guess that the developers will contact me again and I will update my review with my experiences.

This is the best SSH tool I’ve found for iOS, and I’d like to pay something for it - but there are only monthly subscriptions which I’m not interested in.

Adding a voluntary one time fee of, say $5 would allow me to express my gratitude without having to enroll into a subscription model. You might add an SCP feature or allow tabs in return, or nothing at all as the app in itself is easily worth the $5...

### ****- "Pretty good - but has issues with hardware keyboards on iPad"
Does everything you expect from an SSH client, no complaints in that department. There is however a small annoyance when used on an iPad with a hardware keyboard (in this case the smart keyboard for the iPad pro):

* The tilde key doesn't work, which is unfortunate because I often have to reference my home dir.
* Special keys like $ do work but in a weird way. The first character works but second and after do not move the cursor to the end of what you just typed.
* Other special keys like ` and ^ also kind of work, as they do not initially output anything but pressing another key outputs two of that character (which isn't too bad for the backtick but annoys for the hat character).

That said, it is fairly easy to configure the client in a way that is optimised for use with a hardware keyboard and a minimum of virtual keyboard presses required. And I fully expect these minor issues (with this particular keyboard?) can be solved, which would make this 4-star easily a 5-star review. Unfortunately I have to subtract because keyboard integration is one of the main things I look for in an SSH client for iOS: for it to be truly great it has to provide a keyboard experience like you'd get on an actual operating system with a (limited) bluetooth keyboard.

The mosh integration is an awesome touch, by the way!

I’m merely a casual user, but as somebody with a home server and an rPi running Unix, Terminus is an invaluable tool allowing me to login and perform basically any command and action I would, if I was sitting at the actual terminal. It has the usual limitations of a phone but with the shortcuts and hotkeys available, there really isn’t much you can do. And allowing me to login on my server from anywhere in the world basically is icing on the cake. I use it nearly every day. It does exactly what you’d hope a terminal app should.
