No dark mode in a news app is unacceptable
Dark mode has been launched 6 years ago. I don’t use the app at night due to the lack of dark mode. In my opinion supporting is a critical feature for a news app.

The app is free to download. Subscribers receive unlimited access. Most current New Yorker subscribers have unlimited access to the app as part of their existing subscription. Subscribers with a print-only subscription may not have unlimited access. App subscribers have full access to the Web site, including the archive and most recent issue. Users who have trouble accessing stories can e-mail [email protected] for assistance.
Non-subscribers may access the app by starting a free trial. A subscription costs $11.99 a month or $119.99 annually, and includes a 7-day free trial, after which it will automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period and will state the cost of renewal. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication, where applicable.
Subscriptions may be managed by the user, and auto-renewal may be turned off by updating the user’s App Store Subscription settings after purchase. Payment will be charged to iTunes account at confirmation of purchase.

Really bad!
I don’t get why when I tried signing in to my subscription via the app, it kept giving me an option to send a one-time link to sign in. Do I need to click on the option for a link to be sent to my email every time I want to access the articles??! Can’t I access the articles on the app? So frustrating and upsetting! Shouldn’t have subscribed to it!
Hard to cancel digital subscription (online sign-up)
I need to cancel my digital subscription, yet am unable to fully sign in coz I keep getting asked for an account number that i have no record of, and isn’t accessible in the app. Makes me wonder if my subscriber rights are really being respected. This has diminished my respect for the publication.
Could be greatly improved
Can synced between app and web browser, meaning links saved on browser don't show up in app Asks for sign in for some articles in app, repeatedly Search function is awful- most relevant articles are often not returned
No menu options like on the website
Just wish that they could make a menu button like on the website. So i could perhaps choose the category i want to see
Difficult to sign in
What is this nonsense of sending link to sign in on my email that does not work most of the time and have to keep repeating doing it with expired link when it was just being sent? Same when I tried to unsubscribe sending link that keep expiring in second. Theres better news app than this.
Beautiful app marred by distracting ads
The ads are distracting and really makes the otherwise beautiful app look cheap. Surely there must be a way to display ads more discreetly or at least more elegantly.

It would be great if dark mode can be introduced as I usually read before going to bed.
