The New Yorker

Prompted by an email I opened the app to read an article. I couldn’t read it because my subscription had expired. Fair enough. Following any of the links promoted me to subscribe. Again no problem. However the 15 minutes spent on the app used up 1/2 gig of mobile data. Similar experience when I tried the app again. A couple of hours and my allowance for the month would be used up!!

If it wasn’t for the great writing, I’d have unsubscribed ages ago. The app experience is so lacking. The Conde Nast login system is awful and needs fixing. The lack of dark mode in a reading app is unacceptable. The inability to change text size in the app is unacceptable. I don’t want to change system wide font size just to get bigger text in TNY app. Come on! If I didn't know better, I’d say this app is an afterthought for TNY’s management folks.

The New Yorker app offers a sleek and intuitive interface with well-formatted articles and vibrant images. However, it lacks a night mode feature, which makes reading at night straining on the eyes. Adding a night mode would greatly enhance the reading experience for users who prefer low-light conditions. Despite this, the app remains a fantastic resource for high-quality journalism and literature.

Be nice if there was a one-touch way on going back to the home page, instead of hitting Back several times

Keeps loosing my subscription - and ask me to renew when I have paid for one. Love the content but this is the worst magazine online app I have seen

My app persistently requires me to log back in with my subscription, which is incredibly frustrating. When the app works it’s great, but get the basics right.

After the latest update the app hangs or crashes. Bug in there somewhere.

I have been using The New Yorker app for a quite a while. Never had a any issues with it.

When you pay this much for a subscription, it’s extremely disappointing to have the articles filled with ads.

I live in London and have a very expensive international print subscription, but orint issues often arrive a week or two late. I link my subscription to the app so I can read articles when they’re published online, but the app random’y signs me out and denies access, then sends me into a loop of email sign-in links leading back to error messages, which can last for weeks before I am able to sign in again with the ‘help’ of their ´Customer Care’ team. The app itself is very limited in terms of text size and formatting; and cartoons often are illegible and can’t be zoomed. This is a case of the app team resting on their laurels because the NYer have loyal readers who will put up with sub-par functionality because if the content quality.
