### *---- "WiFi password issue, not 802.11 complaint"
When trying to setup the gateway using the iPhone app, it is limiting the WiFi password to only 40 characters, so I can’t get it to join my network.  Per 802.11, passwords can be up to 63 characters.  I will try calling support in the morning, but this is a big mistake in the design, which should have been caught before the product released.

Expensive hardware, controlled by this garbage app. Clearly developed by the lowest bidder, this app looks like a high school science project.  An interaction designer would go a long way sorting the user experience out and making it feel like something that was designed by a professional instead of just thrown together with random terminology and no thought to usability.

I recently added a ThermoWorks Signals and Billows to my Old Country Gravity Fed smoker.

It was simple for me to set up and is easy for me to use.

I like the fact that I’m no longer chained to a smoker and can monitor and adjust temps from anywhere that has an internet connection.

In this smoker it’s holding within less than half a degree temperature across a ten plus hour cook.

Definitely recommend!

Had to reinstall the app after switching phones and now it won’t even let me log into the app using my password that works fine on the ThermoWorks website. It wants “an uppercase, lowercase and a number”, which it has, but still won’t work…

Incredible range as I use a Pitmaker vault which has very thick steel. I went with a competitor to begin with and unfortunately, the thick steel defeated the Bluetooth technology for that company. (MEATER no good). I use a lot of ThermoWorks gear so stick with the brand that is trusted trustworthy. Incredible customer service and just plane out works

iOS app hung (running iOS 18.1) during pairing two of the four RFX probes .  Current app cannot plot more than a single probe on a graph, a MAJOR inconvenience.  Session organization and options are confusing.  Documentation is either absent or confusing.

This ThermoWorks RFX product itself seems to perform well, and is reliable, but this app is problematic and not up to expectations.

### ****- "Love the hardware, app needs a little work."
Good but not perfect, yet. Downloaded the app to use with the RFX system. Everything setup easily, and I was able to immediately use the gateway and wireless probes. I also bought the Billows control fan at the same time and am using it to control my big green egg as I type. All of that is good or great. Now to the not so great. I have multiple probes and a gateway and the app will only let me see one device at a time on the graph. This means there are multiple sessions going so, if I make notes, I have to choose which device and session to make them on. This means that cook times, temps, stalls, fan speeds, and grill temps are all separately being tracked rather than in one session. I would rather create a session and add devices to the session. This would also allow you to control the grill temps with Bellows based on food temps allowing you to go to a warm mode once your food reaches a certain temp, another feature I would love to have. Looking forward to more features and more meat!

I’m literally trying to smoke a brisket at this moment and went into my app and it said my username no longer exists and that I need to create an account. Created the account with the same email I used before. Tried to associate my signal and it said it was associated to another account. I’m dead in the water while my brisket is literally on the smoker. Said I need to contact support to get this changed. This is really hacking me off!!!

Absolute terrible product. Got a Signals for my birthday, tried to start it up, device forced a firmware update, said could not download firmware and then device stopped showing up in app. Tried to reset device and app, remove device, reinstall app, nothing worked. Found out how much they paid and could not believe it. Will try to get them their money back but would not recommend to anyone.

This app is great but it’s missing one feature which is that it doesn’t support Live Activity so that you can view progress directly from your Lock Screen.   Hoping they add this in the future so that it better competes with other products out there.

Updated 11/4/24:

Recently got the RFX meat, setup was smooth, and the probes work great. My biggest complaint is that you can’t group them and see them on the same graph. I’m used to my old Signals where I have a line for each probe all under one device. With RFX, each probe and the gateway is a separate device, so you can’t view them on a shared graph, and checking each one requires a bunch of taps to navigate from one to the other. 

My previous complaints still stand. 

Session management is confusing, it would be nice if there was just a “New Session” button and when there is a session in progress an “End” button that asks to “save” or “delete”.

The app also doesn’t feel very native to iOS, it feels like a web app mimicking an Android app.

I was so excited to receive my RFX that I preordered months ago. Was planning on my first cook with the new probes today. Unfortunately, the setup screen in the app doesn’t allow me to go past the first screen. The “next” button is hidden beneath the initial screen. I’m guessing this is the problem that the newest version is the app was meant to fix. I checked, and I do have the newest version, but it still doesn’t work. It’s Sunday, so new customer service available. I really wish that companies would make sure that products work before they shove them out the door. I waited for months since my preorder, I’d have been fine to wait longer for it to work correctly.
