Toot! for Mastodon

Bisher mehrere Mastodon clients für iOS versucht, muss aber sagen—auch wenn sie jetzt nicht viel mehr kann—gefällt mir diese bisher am Besten. Die ist auch locker die paar Euro wert. Nur um das Icon ist bisschen schade, das passt finde ich eigentlich gar nicht. Vielleicht ein Vorbild an Tweetbot nehmen, die haben hübsche Icons.

Let’s get the issues out of the way first: I’m a bit miffed that it isn’t Pleroma-compatible since that is probably the type of server I would host myself. Also, there are some issues with the image viewer where swiping the image away doesn’t work. Other than that, though, this is a thoughtfully crafted piece of software. The user interface is friendly and easy to navigate, the options handle just about anything you would reasonably want to change about the programs behaviour (I recommend turning on double tap to boost and enforce image descriptions), updates are frequent and the communication of the developer is excellent. Also a standout is how it does multi server support. You can have server-local timelines for servers you haven’t joined, and optionally be logged in on them. Overall, definitely worth the money.

Just got this app a few days ago and I love it! It’s made the Mastodon experience even more fun. You can tell the developer put a lot of love and attention into it, because it shows!

I’ve been using Toot! (after trying other apps) for nearly two years and LOVE it. It does (almost) everything I could ask for as a Mastodon/Fediverse user, and it does it without any apparent bugs. The one exception is not limiting posts to a specific designated language — unless I just can’t find that setting. I know I can select a language on the Mastodon app, but that setting doesn’t flow through to Toot! (Is there a fix?) Otherwise it’s a 10/10.

I’ve tried Ivory, but Toot! fits my mental model of Mastodon best. The simple controls at the bottom while having the fast-account-switching is 💯

This is the best social media app I’ve ever used. It’s really intuitive and runs smoothly. It’s probably the most used app on my iPad. Please could you expand it to run on MacBooks, that would be grand.

Novel and easy to use interface, it used to be my favorite mastodon app just because of how it works. Unfortunately no media playback controls mean you can’t scrub video.

Great app and the only one I use for Mastodon and Pleroma. It doesn’t seem to support webp though, which is an odd choice considering webp is 13 years old and is a better image format. A lot of people post webp images and I can’t view them. If I have to keep opening my browser what’s the point of having the app?

Purchased and tried Toot! for a couple weeks, but have too many complaints and went back to my old fav app. Some are personal preference, some are more general, but the gripe list includes: No swipe actions on posts in timeline (eg left to star, right to reply). Many excessive animations that can’t be turned off. UX customization options are low in general. Post privacy isn’t easy to see in the timeline. When creating a new post, I have to scroll a page length down for privacy and CW options, causing me to forget them regularly. “Load more” system doesn’t make sense to me - hard to find posts between now and last logon. Would like to see it work more like Mastoot. Gives 3 options to create a toot (text, image, video) when I really just want a text box with some nearby media upload buttons. Text posts don’t always format the way you expect after posting
