Instead of spending all that time setting up your big camera, just choose your desired film/sensor size and focal length in the app and point the iPhone camera at what you want to photo to verify framing. If you are happy with the framing then you can get the big camera out. The app has a large database of camera sensors details and film formats but if the format you desire isn’t there you can add your own custom format. The app is targeted at stills photographers or film makers working in either film or digital. If you don’t have your big camera with you, Viewfinder Preview is still great for photo sketching, location scouting or story boarding. I didn’t realize right away though as I’m guessing it’s purely for people that use film equipment to see / compare composition, framing and exposure values etc… (my fault for not getting this bit) Anyway for reference to others. Resolution is appalling and It struggles to even give moderate performance image quality wise. Low light is especially worse and forget using above the 3x lens equivalent from your phone. Again probably an unfair review from me if I’ve got the wrong idea for the use of this app. Regardless of intent I’ve used free apps that have better resolution and performance, how difficult is it to match that for this app then ?
