## Vinegar Description
Vinegar is a Safari extension that replaces the YouTube player with a minimal HTML video tag.

It removes ads, restores picture-in-picture, and allows videos to play in the background when set to audio-only quality.

Note: The phrase 'can read and alter webpages' in the permissions section is just an unfortunate choice of words. Vinegar needs access to the webpage to find the YouTube player and replace it. It's not doing anything creepy!

(Also, do check out Vinegar's companion app, Baking Soda. It's essentially a less powerful version of Vinegar, but it works on all websites except YouTube.)

### **--- "Fonctionne de temps en temps"
La vidéo peut ne pas démarrer, il faut relancer 15 fois avant que ça marche. On a maintenant les pubs mais au format vidéo (donc on peut avancer).

Quant au airplay (diffusion sur la tv), c'est à s'arracher les cheveux. Ça ne fonctionne pas 90% du temps même avec le mode "airplay compatibility mode". On le son et la vidéo ne s'affiche pas (rond rouge barré).

L'idée est top mais au final peu efficace et surtout très peu fiable.

À part la fonction « image dans l’image » dont je ne me sers pas et l’écoute de Youtube Music sans pub écran éteint (j’ai Deezer…). Le bloqueur de pub YT du navigateur Brave fait la même chose et cela me suffit amplement. Sinon, encore mieux, mon VPN localisé sur l’Albanie me permet d’utiliser l’application YouTube sans pub. À vous de voir…

Prix raisonnable et fonctionnel
Cependant, YouTube sur Safari se met en pause régulièrement "Video paused. Continue watching ?" et il ne semble pas y avoir la possibilité de contourner cela, ce qui est embêtant car je l’utilise principalement pour mes playlist de musiques en fond, et elles s’arrêtent au bout de 30min.

Je suis déçu de cette app sur Mac, qui rend YouTube presque inregardable. 
En gros, là où YouTube veut placer sa pub, avec Vinegar la vidéo s’arrête comme si on était à la fin. 
Impossible de relancer et de retrouver le moment où tout s’est bloqué. 
Déçu, je ne peux plus conseiller cette app. 
Pareil sur iPad. Ça foire.

Not only does this ad allow you to listen to music with your phone turned off, it also allows you to use PiP mode, really handy for me as I often use my phone to look at pictures I saved as a reference when drawing or painting. And as a bonus it seems this app also completely removes ads, I honestly found it jarring to use someone else’s phone after using this app for a year. For 2 bucks this app is a massive QoL upgrade, don’t hesitate
