## Vinegar Description
Vinegar is a Safari extension that replaces the YouTube player with a minimal HTML video tag.

It removes ads, restores picture-in-picture, and allows videos to play in the background when set to audio-only quality.

Note: The phrase 'can read and alter webpages' in the permissions section is just an unfortunate choice of words. Vinegar needs access to the webpage to find the YouTube player and replace it. It's not doing anything creepy!

(Also, do check out Vinegar's companion app, Baking Soda. It's essentially a less powerful version of Vinegar, but it works on all websites except YouTube.)

Vinegar funktionierte lange Zeit absolut zuverlässig, aber seit iOS 18.2.1 überhaupt nicht mehr auf meinem iPad - bitte fixen, dann gibt es wieder 5 Sterne!

Seit dem letzten Update wird Werbung bei YouTube nicht mehr geblockt.
Ich nutze Safari auf iPad Pro 1. Gen. von 2016 mit iPadOS 16.x bisher hat alles super funktioniert. Auf iPhone 13 mini mit iOS 18.2.1 läuf der adblocker noch einwandfrei.

Very nice application, works great as the Extract version together with an advertisement blocker.
However it would be nice if there would be an option to use AirPlay over an Apple TV. Will this be possible in the future? Now it only works in the mobile version of the YouTube website and only the sound is displayed via the Apple TV, but not the image.

This extension is a blessing! It fixes the limitations of the YouTube native player on older devices and ignores the additional tracks of the awful auto-dabbing Feature.  In short: This makes watching YouTube joyful as it should be by design.

I have been using this extension pretty much from day 1. It makes watching video on YouTube so much more bearable. And whenever there is an issue, the developer either has an update already published that fixes the problem, or it takes only a couple days (and you can wait for it). And just today, there is an update that auto-ignores those cringy AI-generated auto translations. I love it!

Bis zum Update auf ios 18 eine ToppApp, die ich nicht missen möchte. Nach dem Update auf einem iphone 12 mini, stockt und stoppt die Videowiedergabe leider immer. Ich hoffe sehr, dass die Entwickler nachbessern, sofern es überhaupt an der App liegt.

Blockt Werbung 100% , Bild in Bild geht auch einwandfrei und Background Playback im Audio Modus auch.
Vll schafft es der Entwickler auch noch das die Videos normal im Hintergrund laufen, ohne das man in den Audio Modus wechseln muss.
Bis hierhin einfach eine Top Erweiterung um Keine Werbung in YouTube zu haben.
Eine App alternative wäre auch cool , aber ich glaube die würde es nicht in den Store schaffen ^^
