VLC media player

My media library disappeared with this version. The VLC directory info reports multiple items taking multiple gb of space, but VLC shows the folder as empty.

It seems that resuming the playback of audio files is somewhat unreliable after updating to ios 17

3.4.5 problem where the ipad native top nav bar stays open during fullscreen viewing. No measures such as refreshing the view have got rid of the top bar.

Keep casting to Chromecast and stops working after a few minutes of casting and all casting devices dissapear, have to restart the app to try to cast again. Also no easy way to contact support to resolve the issue as you have to register onto some forum and enable 2FA through a 2FA app to post.

3.4.1: Downloading the subtitles from openSubtitles.org stopped working, both on iPhone and AppleTV. Worked just fine before the latest update.

Sure it can play multiple different formats, but VLC for iOS doesn’t support hardware decoding or HDR video. VideoToolbox shouldn’t be that hard to implement.

The version of the app for this review is 3.4.0 I appreciate the updates & changes you keep making to the app. I use the app mainly as a music player. I rarely write any reviews but I’m growing tired of you not fixing two very obvious and big problems: - The EQ keeps resetting itself when ever a song changes. Let us at the very least keep one manual setting that the app remembers. - The second thing, why is there a huge preamp on every EQ preset? It should be 0 for every single one. Other smaller things: - I suggest you bring back the all black background to music playback because it saves battery and looks better (or at least an option for it). - Make the skip buttons skip the whole song. - When starting album playback, add the whole album to queue - There seems to be something wrong with compressed files’ sound quality (mp3s for me) as sometimes they have some weird static, but only sometimes. - And lastly, the app sometimes crashes on me when I use seek gestures (left/right) during playback. Other than that I like the new changes so far and I hope to see the app made even better as iOS really doesn’t have any good offline music players.

3.4.0 version does not allow direct file openining in the files app.

Works for me, is open-source. Easy to move data onto the device without all sorts of cloud shenanigans. The best part: ongoing development, i.e., not dead. Keep it up, friends.
