We all know that feeling when you want to send message to a loved one, to simply show that you care. Well... we felt that those type of messages deserve to be made a little bit more special. That's why we created Voysmile: an app with which you can send location-based voice messages to anyone, anywhere in the world.
The fun part? As sender of the voice message, you get to decide if the receiver needs to truly be on the location for the voice message to be unlocked and listened to. A kind of like geocaching but then for personal audio/voice messages.
We've seen that location-based voice messages are used for a variety of practical and creative use cases. For example: geocaching and scavenger hunt, travel and hot spot recommendations, event invitations and announcements, personalized greetings (happy birthday!), sharing memories, bucking up running exercises, and much more.
So, how to get started with this geocaching like voice message thingy called Voysmile?
1. Find and install Voysmile
Go to the App Store and search for 'Voysmile'. Which you obviously already did, so congrats on completing the first step! Now, please keep this up and tap that blue install button.
2. Create your Voysmile account
Upon opening Voysmile, sign up for an account using your email address, or Apple/Google account. Confirm it's you by tapping on the link in the email you receive, and then allow access to your phone's location and approve for receiving push notifications (no spam, we promise!).
3. Pick your spot
Aaand now you're really in. Time to create your first location-based voice message, by picking a location. Long-press on the map to drop a pin, or just use the search bar to manually enter your location.
4. Record voice message
In the sheet that pops up, you can upload an audio message, or press and hold the microphone icon to record a location-based voice message. Once completed, listen to your recorded voice message (tip: don't) and redo if necessary.
5. Select audience
Here, you select if you want everyone to play geocaching with your voice message, or if you want to keep it private. Be aware that when tapping everyone, everyone who receives the link can be geocaching your location-based voice message.
6. Send to loved one
Poof! You've now hidden your first voice message. Copy the link, send it to your loved one, and let the geocaching for your location-based voice message begin. Your loved one gets a notification when they're near the set location, and only then can they unlock and listen to your voice message.
Rest assured, Voysmile is designed to respect your privacy. The app itself, and even our developers, are kept in the dark about your specific device location. Your location data is received anonymously, ensuring that your whereabouts remain your business alone. So, you and your loved ones can be geocaching voice messages without worrying.
