## Wärtsilä iSailor Description
Wärtsilä iSailor is an easy-to-use marine and river navigation application for amateur seafarers.
iSailor provides a clear presentation of navigational information, electronic charts and additional content.
TX-97 vector charts supported by iSailor are recognized worldwide as one of the most accurate and reliable sources of navigational information.

Chart folios can be purchased and downloaded in the iSailor Chart Store utilizing the standard iTunes Store payment/purchasing procedure. Chart correction service is provided on annual basis via the auto-renewable subscription service. iTunes will charge payment after confirmation of the chart correction purchase. You may manage your subscriptions and turn off the auto-renewal service in the Account Settings. Your subscription will automatically renew unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the subscription period. You can cancel your subscription in the Chart Store any time. All previously purchased chart folios will remain available for you and can be restored from the service via the Chart Restore function. To receive subsequent chart corrections for your purchased charts, you will need to subscribe to the annual updates in the Chart Store.

The application works on iPhone and iPad using built-in GPS, NMEA Wi-Fi GPS or an external Bluetooth GPS.

NOTE: Continuous use of the GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease the battery life. Wärtsilä iSailor application may use your location even when it’s not open, which can decrease battery life of the device

Navigation part of the app works great but the ais doesn’t seem to work. App suggests it is ais over internet but I’m not seeing any ais targets. The support links in the app don’t work and the I sailor website seems none existent. Apple refused a refund on the ais payment.

Navigation between points in east and west hemispheres crossing the 180 meridian highlight a fatal flaw in this app.  Approaching the meridian there is no chart display beyond the 180 line, just a black screen.

Plotting a course across the meridian requires the user to scroll all the way around the world to plot the second waypoint.  The course line between the two waypoints, even though they may be only 10 miles apart, is drawn all the way around the world.

The course and distance labelled on the midpoint of the course line is actually correct.   

This is the only navigation app I have observed with this problem and must be fairly easy to solve, but Wartsila do not seem interested in sorting out the issue.  Very disappointing.

I have sent 3 emails asking for help (generally where the software is out of sync with the manual) and get auto replies but not answer. I guess Wartsila have abandoned the app? Used to be a 4* app. Good detailed charts, but at times unintuitive UI and clunky UX. This was totally forgivable given the upsides of the app, in particularly the overlaid tides and tidal current information. 

However, sometime in early 2022, without notification (or refund!) the tidal information and currents just disappeared. The main reason I had this app instead of others: gone.

I tried to contact and ask for an explanation; no one got back to me. I tried to get a refund through Apple; no luck. I had three chart regions and the tides, so that’s about £80 down the drain.

I don’t want to hammer this company. Something must be going on. I just want my tides and currents back  :’(

I have been using and recommending iSailor for many years. 
I purchased a new chart area for a single trip. No problems. I then tried to purchase tidal data. The subscription option has no price. The 2015 user guide advised several steps. They are outdated but I tried to follow them. I reinstalled the app, I connected the app to iTunes, I tried many time consuming methods. I was eventually informed after an email request from me that some in app purchases are suspended indefinitely! Nothing on their website! This app has wasted hours of my time. It has also meant I have purchased a chart with no currents or tidal information for my 300nm trip. Very dissatisfied and disappointed that the was no communication on the website. That website update would have taken no time for Wartsila. I can only assume they want to keep taking money for charts and think revealing that tidal data is unavailable would slow sales.

On my latest passage from Tunisia to Sicily my iSailor crashed 19 times , it also done this when I sailed to Tunisia last year . I’m very disappointed with this as it happened at critical times  good job I also run open cpn charts  but I have my AIS linked to iSailor and not good when at night the charts crash and shut down. I’ve used iSailor for over 4 years and never had this problem up until recently. Please advise what I can do , I use a brand new Samsung tablet that is only used for this purpose
