You may not yourself be in the habit of taking this small precaution to avoid search at some highly inappropriate moment, but I always have been and can vouch that it is common practice amongst many professionals.

The app is fine. I just wish there were a setting that allowed it to open in the story I was reading when I closed it. It always opens at the top of the home page, so I can’t leave a story and go back to it later. If this is possible, I would love to know how.

While I greatly appreciate access to the whole magazine and archive articles, the messy interface and layout disturbs me profoundly. I miss the sleek alternative app with news highlights in each section; this one is a throwback to paper editions in the 90’s, and definitely not in a positive sense.

In general the app does exactly what you expect it to and does it well, but there are a few things that caused me to cancel my subscription:
I will press a link and it sends me to browser instead of the app (from the app!) and tells me I need to subscribe.
When I go on to see if I can log in it asks me to subscribe for $29 per year, when I already pay $10 per month!
Smaller detail but also annoying is that links from emails open in browser and not in app.

As a Swede I started to subscribe on NYT (just to watch The Donald’s mysterious ways of leading a country). 
When NYT wasn’t enough, I hooked up with WP to get even more briefed about the situation on 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. DC. 
Well, to be honest - Washington Post is a bit more dull than NYT. But it is still a goddamn great newspaper! The articles are often outstanding. The written  language is lovely! (My vocabulary in English has increased a lot with those two papers). 
Washington Post (digital) is worth every dime.

I decided to pay for a subscription and start reading the WP. Starting up the app, almost immediately a video commercial started playing which I couldn’t stop. Watching through it, I scrolled through the headlines, and it started again within a minute. Closing the app to log back on to cancel my subscription, it again took over the entire screen. Will cancel through email instead and remove the app
